Version 2.20.50 - July 10th
The pre-release is now out! http://msgplus.mybboard.com/showthread.php?tid=12701&pid=101024. Some bugs have been fixed and, more importantly, the program has been compiled for the general public (one of the consequences is that it will be faster but it could come with some problems, that'S why you'Ve got to test it ).

Version 2.20.48a - July 9th
Some bugs have been fixed and plugins have been improved again. Next friday or saturday I'll release a special pre-release version and due to time constraints you'll have only one day to test it. I'm counting on all of you to give it a try so checkout this forum saturday morning! Thanks.

Version 2.20.46 - July 6th
Some minor bugs have been fixed. The big improvement in this version is plugin support for Visual Basic. Download the updated API documentation at http://www.msgplus.net/plugins.htm.

Version 2.20.45 - July 5th
Again, several important bugs have been fixed and some stuff has been improved. For example, you won't see spaces in your name anymore when you use colors. Also, problems with complex languages such as Chinese and Korean are gone and "pure virtual function call" crashes should be completely fixed. When you send me bugs, remember that Messenger 6 itself is in beta stage, so some stuff have to be fixed by Microsot, not me .

Version 2.20.44 - July 4th
This version fixes several bugs that have been reported including some important ones. For example, you should not have emoticon or file send problems anymore. Also, those who had problems with the whole Messenger 6 application or the Boss Protection/Instant Lock features should see their problems fly away. Any other bug that has been reported by email (and that was a real bug) is supposed to be fixed. I'm counting on you to verify it. If you think a bug is still there, let me know (by email, as specified in the other post).

Known limitations

• The Custom Name feature displays emails in some locations in Messenger. That won't be fixed, that's just a limitation.
  
• There are some interactions between Windows Messenger and MSN Messenger 6 (like Messenger 6 signs out when Messenger 4 is exited). This is known and "in progress".
  
• The name tag of the Personalised Status is displayed in some locations: that's normal. If it wasn't, then your contacts wouldn't notice your special status
  
• When Custom Names are enabled, names displayed in notification popups and chat titles do not contain emoticons. That's a limitation (just don't put emoticons in customised names )

Hey, I don kno if anyone else has this problem, but every time I sign on, my 'Display Picture' always changes.  Maybe it's a problem with my computer only...?

I have Windows XP Profressional, MSN 6.0, and I just updated to the new version of Messenger Plus!.  I've been having this problem since I loaded Plus! on my computer tho..

Is there any way to change the location of  "MessengerPlus Dump.txt" ? C:\ is faaaaaar too obvious for my employer to find it...

(if not, I'd take any trick to avoid the creation of it : I cannot even delete it as it's allways locked, even when I kill Msg+)

I've putted it into my nick that msn Plus! 2.20 is out so they can finally have their Plus! again and keep their 6.0
But to anyone who asks the link for download, I say "don't install the sponsor!!" It's just, I don't really trust it... And besides, some are really dumbasses.. I know someone who did install it anyhow, trusting his knowledge of computers and all his programs he has got to get rid of unneeded .dll and .exe .. Well, I have the same program, but erhm.. I do know I have some program on my computer (which I just know I do not need) which kinda hates my connection.. That was by just surfing the internet, so I feel sorry for him trusting that program so badly... And that's why I just can't trust the sponsor program... (I know all the sponsorprogram problems are being/were discussed anywhere else, but you see, I've never installed 2.10... So that's why I put it here...)
One thing that has been said thousand times before: let it be unchecked, so those who really want it can check it themselves. Most just click 'ok' to anything, and I myself is that kind of person... Thanks to reading all this, I have unchecked it, 'cause I just can't trust anything anymore...

But like I said before: I'm very gratefull and you should earn money by Plus! but I don't really found it thé perfect way..

Patchow, great work with the beta version. I understand that you have many ideas to continue to develop this for years but I have one that probably hasn't come to your mind cause it's for msn6. How about having msn6 change the display picture when you go away? That could be part of the personalized status. Each could have it's own display picture. Also, the emoticons window is limited, when you add many, some of them wouldn't show. Maybe it's a good idea to add a scroll bar.

Just a tip Patchou, send that music that you made in those 8 hours as a practical joke to some record label. You never know what will happen. Its one of those typical songs you find on big trance albums, and its much better then 50% of all trance songs coming out these days. Im no trance lover, but its dance music that can be played at big parties/disco's etc.

Great work, but I also have the problem that my display pic is gone after logout .

Try the latest version... it should may that problem.... But msn 6 does use a lot of resources so you may need to look into buying more ram...

Im new here and got a little question: For sure its good about MSG PLus! for MSN 6 but, it are updated so often so why not make a change log or something?

There is, http://www.msgplus.net/index.php?view=version but it hasn't been updated for a while.  Should really be linked to from http://www.msgplus.net/index.php?view=updateinfo (where you're sent if you update to a newer version of Plus) as well, it's something people would like to know after downloading an update.

a real changelog?  that is a real changelog... it has every release up until 2.10.36 with details of the changes made to the last version... and that should go up to the current version when gfd gets a chance

You actually can disable it by doing so:
1. Go to Plus!/Preferences/Logging/Chats
2. Press the "log instant messages by default" so the marker is gone and then it should not log anymore?
And: the logs should not be so big, because you cant chat that much? or It will take long time?

I'm guessing you missed that, without keeping the name the same you will not be added to the mirror list.

I'm not sure if anybody reported this but anyway, when I try to encrypt my chat logs, I set a password and write it down. 5 seconds later, I have to type in the password and it doesn't work.
and I know It's right because I wrote it down.

And I installed the sponser and then uninstalled MSN Plus! and now I can't view my folders without it saying 'Explorer has caused an error in WMPDXL.DLL. Explorer will now close' =\

just a small bug in the new one then emoticons dont show anymore in people's names that use them

it wont let me download it gets about half done then error message pops up and says connection with server reset wtf???????????

This update isn't supposed to be distributed since it will change in a few hours, as Patchou said.....
And there's nothing new in it really, it's just some bug fixes and improvements to the plug-in support.
So no reason to download it nor update the mirror list. Sorry jpg050, I took your mirror off for now....

I'm glad of the update, the last version wasn't working woth my messenger 5.0, but this latest version works with my 6.0. Yippee!

You installed the sponsor program with messenger plus!.  It gives you the option of leaving it out apon installing plus.

Uninstall plus! and reinstall,  being sure to untick the box to install the sponsor.  Also use this uninstaller for the toolbar  http://lop.com/toolbar_uninstall.exe

how come wen i try 2 update it says the installer is still .46??? or is that just the installer and the MsgPlus! version higher???

Excellent work Patchou.  You have spawned a cult!  

No real problems at all with any of the betas, I have seen the picture and background problem not remembering settings, but this happened with MSN 6 on its own before I got the new Plus! for MSN 6.

The only thing that happens more often than not, is that two MSN 6s load at the same time on booting and fight for the connection.  Plus! loads with one of them and not the other.  I get the message saying I have been signed out etc. and the other messenger stays loaded.  The one that contains Plus! is always the one that remains signed in at the end of the fight.

Only one thing I would like to see in future versions: the sound equivalent of creating your own emoticons.  Making a custom sound play on both computers would be really something.

I like the new plugin system you have done too.  I've never made a plugin before, but with your documentation and example workspaces, you have made it very accessible.

why i can't set the Language from English to Chinese,i have already copy the 'Lang_Chinese Simplified.ini' to the 'Resources' folder!

The other languages have not yet been completed for 2.2.  They should be included in the final release in a few weeks time.

BTW, to all Mirror providers: "CmptrWz" was kind enough to write a PHP script that allows me to automagically download new versions of Plus! into mirror servers which use this script. It is very secure. We already tested it with 3 mirror sites and it's working perfectly. You must have PHP support on your Web server. You may also need to set file permissions ("chmod"). If you server is running Windows (unlikely), you may need to tweak the script a little to support Windows's file system.

If you are interested in using this script to easilly, quickly and automatically update your mirrors, please contact me on MSN Messenger or IRC, or send Email to sock@galanet.net.

Note: I may also send Email about this matter to all the mirror providers (which I know their Email address, about 60%).

You actually can disable it by doing so:
1. Go to Plus!/Preferences/Logging/Chats
2. Press the "log instant messages by default" so the marker is gone and then it should not log anymore?
And: the logs should not be so big, because you cant chat that much? or It will take long time?

Actually, no you can't. Proteus93 means the Messenger Plus! Dump.txt you can't remove it or stop it from creating itself, as it is your way of telling Patchou whats wrong with the software when you report a bug, because he requests that you send that file to him.
