Hello everyone!

first, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It's been 3 monthes now that I've started the development of Messenger Plus! 2.0, the successor or the plugin you all use (well, I guess lol). In the past month, a lot of bugs have been found and corrected thanks to the work of the MP2 Alpha Testers and I want each of you to congratulate them for their work if the situation arises.

I'm now working harder than ever to keep my promize and release the beta version to everyone as soon as possible. And yes, I'm still planing to distribute it at the end of the year, probably the very first week of january if not before. I hope you'll all enjoy the new features and that you'll make this new version an even better success than Messenger Plus! 1.4.

Well, i can say its a real smooth program, and lots of bugs are already out, almost all of them, but u never know. And that's exactly why it goes into beta stage first isn't it?

Thats great news! Haha the funny part is, pretty much everyone who sees the subject will be expecting a link to the download, only to be a little disappointed that it isn't released yet.

Hmm, i think all of teh problems will be fixed in version 2.009, but i'll have to see, cuz i didn't get the update warning... quite odd... in the about box it indeed still says v2.008, and i even reset my system date, rebooted,... :x

email patchou...i may be able to tell you how to fix it but im afraid ill do sumthing wrong so ill leave the fixing to patchou

It's ok M. Freeze, the auto-update bug has been corrected in 2.00.10. Thanks for your support everybody . I guess the beta will be out by January 4th, don't worry Muss . This WE I'll release what will probably be the latest alpha version. Then I'll wait some days to see if everyone is happy with the new version and after that, I'll it to the public.

As this is a beta version, don't expect much graphics in it. Also, there is no multi-language support yet (will be there for the final release of course). Appart from that, everything is supposed to be fully functional. That's a very solid beta.

Ok i know its your program and all but i stmbled across some great tweaks and i was thinking that you could put these in your program (maybe you could tick and untick these options) i know these work cause ive tried them myself so here you go

    1. Remove Tabs From The Side Panel (MSN Messenger 5)
1. Go to Tools
2. Then Options
3. Then Privacy
4. Then Tick this is a shared computer so don't display my Tabs.
5. Then Press OK
6. Then Press OK again to the changes you have made
7. Then resign in messenger again

    2. Clear MSN/Windows Messenger Sign In History (All Versions)
1. Click on Start
2. Click on Run
3. Enter ‘control userpasswords2’
4. Select Manage Passwords button
5. Add or Remove whatever passports you want
6. Then press OK

Im not sure if they would be easy to incorperate but if they are im sure everyone would love for them to be in the program

I just love this MSN Plus software, at first I was not aware that I am using a 3rd party software, I even wrote microsoft about this. Hehe

The features are just great.  I specially love the feature wherein it automatically saves chat logs, with specific time stamped - this is really really great!

I hope it comes out soon Cos I think its the best addon for

No, as far as i know Patchou never agreed to the distribution of MP2! while it is still in alpha-testing...
In fact, the alpha testers agreed to keep MP2! to themselves untill the public beta were to be published. Read these 2 threads for some more info.

- will  it be a french version ? The final version will be available in the same Languages as msn and windows messenger (English, French, Dutch,...)
- what are the signficiant differences between MSN messenger 4.6 and the 5 th version ? As far as i see; not so much. better ask anyone else . but... That is of no matter cuz Patchou has managed to get mp2 working with msn messenger on WIN XP!!

don't rush him. it the same with all the latest games and stuff.
(my example, GTA3 for PC) when people heard it was going to be released they all bugged the producers to release it...and when they did it somehow didn't seem right. bits were missing and it looked unfinished.

optomising the code to make it run better takes time. give the guy some slack...im sure he is working his ass off just to please you guys rather than making a thourough(sp?) job of msn+2

about the leaked alpha: Its full of bugs and maybe its edited with shit (you will never now cuz its not from a official site )

about when it will be released: the its here +1 gmt and patchou is in -5 (as far as i know) so patchou is at about 8:00 and you dont now When it will be released (maybe he releases it at 19:00 in his timezone) So: BE Patient!!

About the leaked version being full of bugs.. I've talked to a few people who have used it and they think it's gr8. It's not full of bugs like most people are saying.. If it's good enough for the 194-200 Alpha Tester then it will be good enough for me.. BTW everything is illegal disturbuted these days, MP3's, Movies, Software & Roms just to name a few.. Not much you can do about it but reap the benifits

Like i said.. I do not want to download the alpha version but i've just grown impatient over the last three months.. Hopefuly it's out on Jan 4th so i won't have to download that alpha

Well i'm keeping my fingers crossed to see if the beta realease will be out today. It is 9:35am Jan 3rd here in Montreal,Quebec. Which isn't to far from Patchou. I am excited about the new MP2 realease but i can also wait, i'm a patient person. Although i installed MSN messenger 5 awhile back and realized MP1 didn't work exactly right with it, i just un-installed MSN messenger 5 and re-installed 4.6. Thanks for all your hard work Patchou and the Alpha testers.

You can get MSN version X (whichever you want) from www.mess.be.

Once installed you can revert back to MSN Plus 1.x

All i did.

But i do agree, I cant wait to remove all the junk from msn 5 with plus 2.

Cant believe some idiot leaked the alpha.  It just pro-longs it en causes delays for everyone, and it doesnt solve anything.

I was weak and I downloaded the leaked version too, but I haven't had one problem with it. In fact, my only complaint is that the Event Log window doesn't come up where I last had it when I close it and reopen it. Of course I'm using Windows Messenger 4.7 and it probably works a little better with that than MSN 5.0. Sorry Patchou, I was weak.

Lets hope the gods looked another way when you downloaded it! What a shame!

Patchou e-mailed the alpha testers again today and said that he wants to release the beta on Sunday or Monday (January 5 or 6).

Just letting you non-alpha-testers know...

Return = Enter (on the numpad) or, if you get desperate, alt-0010 (not sure if it'll work though)

Space = alt-0160

Backspace = left + delete

im a new member but as always ive been watching the forum for a number of weeks.
im just wondering if its still planned to be released on the 5th of jan?
because it is actually the 6th of jan at the moment,

its probably just comming into the 5th where most of yous are, however i will have to sleep a few more hours and see then

If you read a few posts back you see a post from WDZ who tells that Patchou had emailed the Alpha testers that he wanted to release MP2 Januari the 6th or 7th

And I've just spoken to Patchou and he says that he will ask the alpha testers whether the software is ready to be distributed. So everyone be nice to the alpha testers.

instead of continuously changing the date of the BETA release, why dont they just say estimated release date 2010.

I know its hard to create a program in months but still, a tad annoying changing the date.

At least put the date forward longer, if you expect more bugs, then if its released earlier everyones happy.

First of all, stop whining! You never paid for a deadline... This is freeware and Patchou is working as hard as he can! We are not talking about a fleet of programmers here. He really has no incentive, other than to make others happy which is a good incentive , to program this!
Stop complaining! It will be released!

Alright, well im sorry... but looking around and people all over saying "Pushed another day... great", it can be annoying. And Im pretty sure Patchou is working all day for this. So its really discouraging to see people complain and not take into consideration the magnitude of the responsibility he has.

1) I have a slower computer
2) MSN 4.6 is about 1.6megs and 5.0 is about 4megs
3) Takes longer time to load 5.0 (on slower computer)and uses more resourses.

But that's my opinion,plus i think MP2 will work alot better with 4.6 for the time being until all the bugs are fixed.

2) MSN 4.6 is about 1.6megs and 5.0 is about 4megs
3) Takes longer time to load 5.0 (on slower computer)and uses more resourses.

(Sorry if I screw this post thingo up, it's the first time i've used one of these forum things heh).
Anyways, I've been a fan of msgplus for a while now, and today, someone sent me a version of msgplus v. 2 beta (at the time, I thought it was the official release because last time I checked it was going to be released on the 4th, or 6th(???) I can't remember which, but anyways, I thought it'd been released so it was okay to use it. I tried installing it, but it didn't work! It said I needed messenger 4.6 or something. I have MSN Aqua X installed on my comp (I just prefer the blue heh) and what my query was, was wether MSG Plus 2 is compatible with it?!

MsgPlus! hasnt been released as a beta... the version you'll have is an alpha version. Wait until the official release on tuesday.

Heh, Sorry, that's the one. But does anyone know if will work with MSN Aqua X? I know the old msg plus worked with 4.x versions of messenger...

what is exactly aqua x ? are u using a mac ? personally i use crystal messenger but its just a modified exe and a modified dll ... and it works with plus!

It looks pretty good.. Not a great fan of Trillian though heh. The Desktop theme kinda thing looks cool... The Crystalized msn thing looks pretty cool too, but I think msn aqua looks abit better.

I hope MP2 works with IM for exchange since thats the one I'm using. I still have to use version 4.6 (w2k). I hope MS come out with a new version for that as well.

Anyone have any ideas why I can't 'Manage Groups' with Messenger for Exchange though? Thats been bugging me. I put it down to the fact that I am not in a AD domain.

Anyway, I'll keep waiting too.

It would very usefull to know when Patchou will release mp2..... (not exactly, but there's a difference between 00.01 Am PT and 23.00 PM PT... )

The reason the forum gives those errors is because there are so many people on here waiting for MP2. over the last few days i have seen the number of people on these forums double.

What r the 'action messages' in mp2! used for? /me <ur msg here>, but what can u put to replace the <ur msg here>?

When u choose /appearoffline it wrks fine, but, u cant use these comands 2 get bak online, cos the box wher u type the commands/ normal messages is grayed out. Is there nething Patchou cud do 4 the final version th@ wud solve this little problem?

don't think so, it is a restriction by msn that you can't type anything in the convo window when you are in offline mode
I think that Patchou will need to crack to exe to change that (which he won't do)

and btw, could you please post this kind of posts in MP2 support instead of in this thread

Partially correct. It is legal to enable the textbox in an IM window using an API call, but, even if u do, the message wont be sent so Patchou doesn't need to bother. Microsoft grayed the textbox so people wouldn't be fooled by sending no-good-messages to the server.
