RE: Ram Queery even with a virtual machine, it uses the same ram as what XP will be using!!!!!!!! the only way you can have ram dedicated to linux, is to install it on a different computer, not a portable HDD, it has to have its own ram, own cpu, ect. and having a ... | NanaFreak | Tech Talk | 02-05-2008 at 08:43 PM |
RE: Ram Queery i was actually thinking of just putting the VM on my portable hard drive (so i can take it anywhere), but i was wondering since i devote a part of my ram to the VM what happens (to the ram) when i run the vm on another computer or what happens (to t... | Th3rmal | Tech Talk | 02-05-2008 at 08:38 PM |
RE: BIOS & Motherboard Not always, sometimes they just add support for additional CPU's in newer versions. In that case you don't need the update if the current version is working for you. | Jesus | Tech Talk | 02-05-2008 at 07:40 PM |
RE: Ram Queery Won't make any difference. Your 32bit Windows XP just can't handle more RAM, no matter what you do with it, it won't get past that limit. Either install a 64bit OS (if you have a 64bits CPU), or take the unused RAM out and put it in another machin... | Menthix | Tech Talk | 02-05-2008 at 05:27 PM |
RE: Ram Queery Do you have a 64 bit CPU? If you do, you might be able to use all 4 GB. The reason you can't with a 32 bit CPU is that those 32 bits can only address 4 GB of total ram- and some of the ram that needs to be addressed is video ram. Many hardware devi... | Verte | Tech Talk | 02-05-2008 at 03:42 PM |

RE: How exactly does Aero work? RE: msgpluslive.net freezes IE7 while opening I don't notice any freezing, only notice you can't scroll once clicking a link to a new page whilst it loads it, but that lasts less than a second, if it's lasting 5 seconds for you, I'd suggest it's either slow internet connection or bad cpu/me... | vaccination | Forum & Website | 01-10-2008 at 06:39 PM |

RE: ram question Also, you must realise that the Dual Channel feature of DDR SDRAM is only available when you install memory in pairs - ie, two memory chips of the precise same type. | andrewdodd13 | Tech Talk | 01-06-2008 at 10:58 PM |
RE: ram question i thought that I would have to mix frequencies because cpu-z reported my current module to have a max bandwidth of 333 MHz, but after reading some things its actually 667 since its double of what it reports (Double Data Ra... | Supersonicdarky | Tech Talk | 01-06-2008 at 10:42 PM |

RE: need some help finding a laptop I prefer intel because core wipes the floor with amd's entire lineup? also, all the core processors are 64-bit. also, 64-bit serves no real benefit other than to support >~3gb of memory. in fact, 64-bit applications will use more memory than the ex... | ShawnZ | Tech Talk | 12-30-2007 at 06:04 PM |
