RE: Computer Technical Hardware Noob Questions you can buy a slocket if you are buying a socket cpu with a slot motherboard, although slot motherboards are outdated. I myself are using an ASUS A7V133 Socket A motherboard, which is pretty old, i think. :P | ryxdp | Tech Talk | 10-04-2006 at 05:35 AM |
RE: Computer Technical Hardware Noob Questions Well, the motherboard does no processing, it mainly has the buses that connect everything together (CPU, GPU, RAM, storage). You don't really get motherboards suited to a Pentium 4 2.8 GHz, and then others suited to a Pentium 4 3.2 GHz. Rather, the... | rav0 | Tech Talk | 10-01-2006 at 07:02 AM |
RE: Computer Technical Hardware Noob Questions thanks you all your replies they were quite helpful(Y). if you have say a rather good motherboard the extra bang in the m/board won't be utilised if say you only have like a celeron 2.4 cpu so is it better to buy cpus and mbs that are similar in lik... | jukaimessenger | Tech Talk | 09-30-2006 at 08:54 AM |
RE: Computer Technical Hardware Noob Questions Not strictly true. They wouldn't purposely design the chips to be less efficient. What it actually is is Intel focussed on clock speeds, AMD focussed on work per cycle. Ultimately, Intel ran out of steam, whereas AMD are still getting faster speeds. | RaceProUK | Tech Talk | 09-29-2006 at 03:59 PM |
RE: Computer Technical Hardware Noob Questions Don't worry about that. Though, make sure if you're buying a motherboard with a PCIe graphics card slot that you buy a PCIe graphics card. The same for AGP. I suggest you get a PCIe graphics card if you're looking for anything decent | Underlord | Tech Talk | 09-29-2006 at 02:51 PM |
Computer Technical Hardware Noob Questions I have been using computers for many years (5< years at least if not much more), but have hardly concentrated on the hardware side of things so therefore I no little about hardware details that are more than the very basic. RE: Messenger Plus! 100% CPU Crash Problem? And also, if a 3200+ barton can't withstand WLM, I think it's headed down the crapper. It seems to be working alright tonight, although I've turned "What I'm listening to" off again. As I said before, there are definetly no viruses loaded int... | andrewdodd13 | WLM Plus! RE: Messenger Plus! 100% CPU Crash Problem? Trying using WLMessenger after you remove MSG Plus! live. If your CPU still max up, it will mean that WLMessenger is the one that is taking up that much. Messenger Plus! 100% CPU Crash Problem? I've been using MP!L (4.01) and WLM (8.0.0.787) for quite a while now, but for some reason it's begun crashing (ie, the CPU usage goes up to 100%, the system grinds to a halt, and the program becomes unresponsive). RE: [Updated] Live Notifier V1.10 (formerly Convo Notifier) I also found Messenger Discovery Live's notifications good but i would prefer a bug free script that takes very little space than a program that takes up computer space and CPU to a large extent for just two minor features. RE: Help Fight Cancer! Join the Messenger Plus Grid.org Team by joining the messenger plus team, does that automatically defer my cpu resources to the cancer project only?, also won't this inevitably involve double processing? | benjyrama | General Chit Chat | 08-23-2006 at 09:10 PM |
