RE: SOLVED: (frustration no more) total frustration
CookieRevised gives good advice. Remove / disconnect non-essential hardware, such as modems, sound cards, printers and so forth. If you can get XP installed that way, you might even get lucky and not have any problems after putting it all back tog...

Well... the 6600GT it's not perfect, from my own experience I'm able to play FEAR, Quake4, Call Of Duty2, with max settings except for resolution (1024 x 768) and no antialias all without lag. Need For Speed Most Wanted at 1280 x 1024 with full ant...

RE: List As Many Security Progs (Including Antivirus/Antispyware-adaware etc)
Eset's NOD32 is the most effecient antivirus in my opinion. You wouldnt notice you had it had you not been told. It takes somewhat seven minutes using around 5% CPU to do a full system scan on my computer.

You can also try overclocking using software like ClockGen, cpuFSB, and SetFSB.

RE: cpu overclocking
Overclocking is dangerous business, and should only be done if you know what your doing. Especially overclocking a CPU as it deals with the BIOS. Its not really worth overclocking a Pentium 2 but incase you try it on something else... Go into your BI...

RE: Help with laggy
Did you install your graphics card drivers or are you still using the generic ones? This sounds like a classic textbook example of generic drivers which provide no graphics acceleration.

RE: cpu full
By the way (i'm sure Chris4 knows this :P) System Idle Process using high percentages of CPU is perfectly fine. Basicially if System Idle Process is using 100% CPU, it means your CPU is completely idle and not using any of itself.
