RE: Computer Freezes At Bios Screen
Hmmm sounds strange.. Things he could try: - CMOS Clear.. As said by DragonX - Remove ALLLLL!!! hardware except: CPU, RAM, Mainboard and VIDEO... then boot and see what happens.. If removing hardware works, try adding a component a time, boot up and ...

RE: Request: Temperature
Sorry maybe I didn't make it clear for some of you. Yes, I wanted the CPU temperature. I suppose, if you could use something like C++ it could be very possible. I personally havn't looked myself though, so I would have no idea what so ever.

100% CPU usage
About once per day, I'd find my msn would suddenly freeze up and use 100% cpu, and I'd have to end task it. I tried disabling and uninstalling all msgplus plugins it kept happening. Now that I've disabled tabbed chats, my msn has worked for a week...

RE: STUPID COMPUTER!!!!!!
Your "system Idle process" is NOT a process. Idling means doing nothing. It should always be around high in a healthy system, unless you are running a resource and CPU intensive program.

RE: Determine which is better
Yes, I do agree when this is compared with equivalent Pentium 4 processors. But I'm not so sure that the Pentium M 2.0Ghz is so much faster than the P4 2.8Ghz... But... I'm currently looking thru Intel's site... EDIT: crap, Intel's site is so "n...

http://support.intel.com/support/processors/mobile /pm/sb/CS-007967.htm From that chart - you'll see the P4-M's have a 1mb cache (well, this one would) whilst this same Centrino has the 2mb cache. The other features such as dedicated stack manager, ...

RE: new power supply, help
Now, these figures aren't absolute, but they do show in what order you should think of when talking graphics cards. ----------- The reason why certain low wattage PSU's fail (like the one from SunShine lately) is not neccesairly because of low watt...

RE: Determine which is better
- CPU speed is lower (although the more memory can compensate this; depends on how you set up both PC's) - Graphics are worse (it contains version "1.0", while the other is "2.0"; although for all you know the Toshiba could also be 'SE', to kn...

RE: A question for Cookie (or someone who will go into great detail).
Well, yes, you could turn it off. In all my posts I clearly said "if you want to take a screenshot of that special video memory". If you don't use that special video memory, aka overlaying, you don't need that 'special software' of cours...

RE: the nooby computer man: RAM
Agreed, but the games noways they don't read almost anything from the CDs/DVDs they are just needed for CD check. I'm sure BF2 can run without problems with 1GB RAM, I've seen WoW on 512MB Ram PCs and there's no lag at all. The CPU and Videocard...

RE: Computer troubles, ???..cause remains mystery.
My guess is that the HD cooler fan was drawing too much power at startup (from a cold boot), but when you warm booted, residue charge somewhere let the computer start normally. (this is something like where I remembered reading abot residual charge b...

You've worked around the problem, but if anyone wanted to know the reason, I'll add this Video decoding often requires a lot of power. For this reason, when the graphics card is capable, video decodding is offloaded to the graphics card, rather tha...

RE: Computer choice/help
Intel processors have a heat-protection circuit, whereas AMDs don't. Then again, if your HSF is not fully secure on your processor, and you put it on yourself, you deserve to lose a CPU. Obviously you don't if someone else didn't fit your HSF prop...
