RE: Centrino? P4? (New laptop help)
Pentium M max clock in a Laptop at present is 2.26GHz (as said by Intel). Yes AMD Turion is a better CPU but not if you want longer battery life. You'll also be hard pressed to get a IBM Thinkpad with a AMD Turion64 Processor.

RE: Graphics Card Fan Making Funny Noise... - PLEASE HELP
I'd guess its either coming from the powerbox fan or the hard drive. From the processor fan? It could be, but if so, its a lot more serious If the temps of your CPU are higher then 40 when first starting up (you can check in the CMOS Setup) then it ...

RE: screen size
No, monitors aren't made like CPUs - you're not going to get one that can miraculously support a higher resolution than specified, probably even more so with a TFT screen.

RE: upgrading
I'm guessing your CPU is a big Cartridge? If it is then a Slot 1 Pentium 3 would be possible, without a Motherboard upgrade. You can also get adapters to allow Socket 370 Processors in a Slot 1 Mothreboard. http://www.kikumaru.com/pc/s370tos1/inde...

It does sound most probably like a heat issue - the first things which may make a difference if you haven't tried already are to provide maximum airflow under the laptop while watching (if that's possible) and if your laptop has any controllable CP...

Yes, you could Install OSX if you circumvent the ID Chip on the Motherboard which i'm sure people will manage. When you compare a P4 or Athlon64 on XP to a G5 on OSX you aren't getting a fair comparison. An Athlon64 2800+ can keep up with a 2.5G...
