A) socket 939 mor future proof and dual core should be a drop-in replacement in socket 939 boards with appropriate BIOS updates. socket 754 seems to have a lot more longevity than originally planned though, and S754 boards are cheaper than 939. [colo...

RE: USB ports...DISABLED/!!!!
Nope. Some wires have things like "USB" or "IDE" written on it, and the Hard Drive and CD/DVD/floppy reader chords are colour coded, but not the main parts. PC building isn't as easy as it seems... Here's a quiz to see if you're ready to build...

RE: USB ports...DISABLED/!!!!
 It's not colour coded :P The keyboard/mouse/etc are colour coded, but to build a PC from scratch at your level would be suicide  Rather take a course on how to build one or stick to pre-assembled computers :p (FYI I run a computer buildi...

Shit! Well how much does a 64bit cost in canada?

RE: USB ports...DISABLED/!!!!
"AMD 64 Opteron" that is for the AMD CPU, you can obviously get your same machine in either the AMD Opteron make or an intel make. The intel make is only 32bit, I can guarantee you that.. See blade? :p

RE: The Big computer Spec Thread

RE: The Big computer Spec Thread
Yours is somewhat underclocked. Overclocking would be bumping it up to a higher FSB it is not meant to support. In your bios you should be able to get it to run at the speed it should by fiddling around with the FSB and multiplier settings, if it is...

RE: The Big computer Spec Thread
You're sure. Note that not all application s are accurate with the actual speed. Mine just runs at the default speed, never changed anything to it. In my case Windows XP reports that is 1.91 GHz. If you have 2131 MHz reported somewhere and you didn...

RE: Messenger Plus! in a 64-bit OS enviroment.
:-/ That's the absolute top of the line FX series. To get a base 64-bit is about $200, and the one I have is about $380.

RE: My fun time building my new PC
I spent a week researching these products. The deffect is not admitted by ASUS and I only found out about it by looking at a forum post on a dif. forum after entering "System Failed due to CPU overclocking" in google.

My fun time building my new PC
Ok, after waiting 2 weeks to get my computer parts I finally got them yesterday. I was a little ticked off that it took so long but I was like "Ok, w/e, I'm going to build the computer and let it go." (NCIX stated the parts would take 2-3 days to ...
