You are right, msgplus.exe can already be used this way. However, it was never meant to be run standalone and needs some registry keys to function properly. It is not only that... even with passwords in ascii you will have the very same problems. (I even didn't tested unicode with your program yet, only ascii passwords, but the cause is the same: your scrambling/descrambling routine)... The password is "scrambled" for better security (so the API isn't called with the text password in plain sight). Decrypting and encrypting will only work for files in the main chat log directory. Not for the files which are already archived in the archive (sub)directories.
