The nickname changing doesn't have much todo with Messenger Plus!. If you click on a contact's name in the contactlist, you are changing the nickname (not the contact name) of that contact. Hmmmm well you could have someone spamming you with huge numbers of words each time you sign in, which would overload the max no. of characters allowed which would take ages to show.
