The default limit is 400 characters. Messenger Plus! can boost this up to 1100 characters (which is still safe to use). StuffPlug can boost this up to 5000 characters (by manipulating the protocol). It's just the way Windows Live Messenger works. It is designed to specifically open a [b]new Internet Explorer window[/b] no matter what your defaults are.
