I have not visited the site, but it sounds like your friend was probably using the site to check who has blocked them and it does that to advertise the service before changing the user's nickname back to normal and signing out. Try searching the Dodgy File's name in Google, with 'Removal' afterwards. So, for example, I can think of two. One which states "Hey is this you in the picture" and a link, which links to the downloading of a virus. He can ask a mutual contact or create a second email account and add you to see if you accept. If you have "All others" in the allow list like this.... The block checkers I've seen today ask for your MSN address and password so they can "check" for you.
