But your nickname (together with your contact list) is stored on the server (that's why you have the same nickname no matter where you sign in). In ColorNick's Preferences, make sure you didn't check the checkboxes at the top of the window (for auto-coloration). Then open a conversation window with a contact, type /xcolornick and press Enter.
