Chat logs can't be deleted (whether encrypted or not) when the conversation windows (not Messenger) are opened of the contacts who are the owners of those logs. The only item in the main Plus! menu related to what your problem could be is: "Lock [u]Messenger[/u]". Most stuff said in this thread is a solution for unlocking Messenger.
