Just to be sure Plus! isn't installed (because there's an option to hide the Plus! button and for some reason it may be checked) you should press ALT on your contacts list which will show the menu. It's worth deleting cache which may be corrupted... Note: I suggest backing up before deleting (e.g. 3rd from bottom will delete custom smiley's, display pics, winks, scenes, etc.). That's nothing special. The red sign there is just to indicate it is the Plus! uninstallation program.
