Hi,

The server is currently trying to send out 7,000 emails which have bounced because of users using invalid email addresses.  As you can easily imagine, this puts an immense load on the server.  Please go to your profiles and update your email addresses to a valid one.

In one week, on Monday, May 19, an email will be sent out to all email addresses on file in the database.  At that time, any bounced messages will result in an immediate automatic account deletion from the server.

Please update your email addresses within a week to avoid accidental deletion of valid accounts.

well my email is valid but I wont it deleted so I can restart a new account for some reasons. So if that can be done then thanx

well my email has been valid all along...if Hotmail doesn't suck it won't bounce anything while the mail, sonicboom you sent, is smaller than 1kbytes.

anyway the email notification option can be turned off can't it?

The reason some valid email addresses are being rejected is because of the way the server identifies itself.  This will be corrected before the time of the mailing.  If your email address is valid, whether or not you receive forum emails, your account will not be deleted.

The email sent will contain instructions to verify your forum account.  The return address of thte email will lead to a PHP script.  When the php script receives an email (bounced), it takes the address it bounced from and purges the email account.  Emails will be sent out in groups of 500.

Again, if you use a valid email address, you have nothing to worry about.  If anyone has any problems or questions, please let me know at rbewley@friend.ly.net

can't you try a test mail ??? before you mail the big one ????

i think they have, its not like its gona cause major problems since u can always re-register

My e-mail works

Mine is valid too, but it is a hotmail address, and I know I've had problems in the past with bouncing emails.

You know whats odd...Half the emails I get from MsgPlus go straght into my Junk mail folder...:/...I checked my settings, and they are set to normal, so I dont know what It could be.

My hotmail account sucks...didn't get any mail from the forum for two days since i sent a test mail...i just changed that to another mail addresss...

The "Send this thread to a friend" test worked fine for me.....

Well, i'm going to move everyone into a "suspended posting" usergroup and send out the email.  So, basically, once you receive the email, you just click on a link and your moved into a group that gives you full priveledges again.

If your email bounces for some reason, a forum staff member will be able to move you manually after varifying the email address.

I have been away for a while from the forum and i entered my email addres (cuz i hadn't entered it at all). (it's now may 18th) Will i still get this email?

i know its gonna sound like im picking on n00bs but just send email notefactions to ppl who just apply with fake emails with no posts then wipe em.

i havnt been sent an email yet ether, in fact i never have had an email for the forum.

if you really wanted to combat fake email address, what you do is when ppl sign up, email them a password most forums ive been on do that to prevent spammers and ppl giving out fake emails.

I guess you haven't been informed that there was a change of plans...

There will not be an e-mail sent to all members. You will have to visit a PHP verification script, which will send you an e-mail, then you can click a link in that message to verify your account. The script is not complete yet.

So DZ when will it be finished? year 3003 or 20003 or someday when human vanishes but computers still exist?

we do get some ppl who come on forums just to advertise. there is one member who was doing it last weekend, i wont name names (*coughs* "D*o") and they do tie up the server space which is a pain in the arse for all
