There are several ways of doing this and they are all very similar.

A.) First possible way is through the main MSN Messenger 6 window:


*Note: screenshots will usually follow each step*


i.) On your main MSN Messenger 6 window, more commonly known as the "contact list", click on "Tools" then --> click "Create Emoticons.."



ii.) Right now you should see the "My Custom Emoticons" dialog, click "Add..." then --> click "Find Image..."





iii.) Locate the image which you want to make a custom emoticon with.


iv.) Double-click the image.


v.) In the box under "Type a keyboard shorcut for your emoticon (Up to 7 characters Example: <"
Type the shortcut you wish to use, example: :alien:
Please note: it may ONLY be up to SEVEN (7) characters long



Example of a finished emoticon setup:



vi.) Click OK and after that --> click OK again

B.) Second possible way is through the Instant Message window:

*Note: screenshots will usually follow each step*

*Second Note: The first TEN (10) emoticons will be shown in the Emoticon drop-down menu*


i.) On the Instant Message window, more commonly known as the Chat Window or MSN Convo (short for conversation), click the smiley face then --> My emoticons...


ii.) Right now you should see the "My Custom Emoticons" dialog, click "Add..." then --> click "Find Image..."





iii.) Locate the image which you want to make a custom emoticon with.


iv.) Double-click the image.


v.) In the box under "Type a keyboard shorcut for your emoticon (Up to 7 characters Example: <"
Type the shortcut you wish to use, example: :alien:
Please note: it may ONLY be up to SEVEN (7) characters long

There we go, now you can add as many Custom Emoticons you wish, have fun!
