I'd like to start work on a translation of Plus! into Esperanto. If there happen to be any Esperantists around here (*looks around unexpectantly*) willing to help, please get in touch; else, do I just soldier on with the translation and post it here when it's done? RE: Esperanto translation by jpg050 on 07-21-2003 at 11:38 AM Esperanto ? the European common language? RE: Esperanto translation by Mippo on 07-21-2003 at 11:44 AM Yeah, I was wondering too, but I think it's the one . It seems kinda cool, but where do you learn it? It was going to be as the euro is to the old currencies, but I heard it was totally unsuccesful... at least I haven't heard of it since '96... anyway, it looks like french-spanish mixed with greek... RE: Esperanto translation by Mendor on 07-21-2003 at 02:40 PM
It's not exactly a European common language, but "French and Spanish mixed with Greek" is about right. It was invented in 1887 and has about 2 million speakers - so, not totally unsuccessful, but not a roaring success either, given that it's meant to be a world interlanguage. The EU has never officially supported it (though I think UNESCO has) RE: Esperanto translation by Mendor on 07-28-2003 at 12:37 PM
This translation's almost done, but I've got a question about one thing. RE: RE: Esperanto translation by Leif on 07-28-2003 at 01:50 PM
quote:Yes, I think that's the only way! RE: RE: Esperanto translation by Choli on 07-28-2003 at 05:43 PM
quote:Yes, (as Leif said) and you must include both files in order Patchou can add them to Plus! As you said, Esperanto seems to not use the west european languages code page (1252), so Plus! can't transform the ANSI .ini file into Unicode as it does with the files of the translations into spanish, french, .... Dear Mendor, RE: Esperanto translation by Mendor on 09-21-2003 at 06:30 PM
I haven't checked with Patchou; I was hoping that he would see this thread, though that's not too likely if I let it die for another two months! RE: Esperanto translation by Tochjo on 09-21-2003 at 06:53 PM Jes, ankau mi estas Esperantisto; tial mi esperas ke via traduko estas poshtota. Se bezone, nur postu ghin sur tio forumo: en la okazo se Patchou ne volas aldoni vian tradukon al Plus!, mi povas elshuti vian tradukon chi tie. Anticipe bonan dankon!
