newest update (first post), the program now uses popup windows in messenger style
for the moment only one at a time can be shown and they conflict with the messenger popups in case they show up at the same time

i like it very much...especially the sounds
now here's an idea
what if you could define a specific sound for each status? or even from one specific status to another? i realize the second one could be very tedious to create, but specific sound for each status i would like

getn better, gots a couple more sugestions to.  option to save settings and hav it load wit messenger, plus, or even windows on start

update: every event can have a different sound (next version will have the possibility to give every event the same sound)

sound settings are stored in registry

when the program is completed i will make an installer for it and it will start with windows

Xerxis, look on Mess.be for a program made by Zero1, use his ideas (which were suggested by myself and others, so its not stealing) because his program had almost everything I wanted in a notification program. I'm not sure if yours makes a popup on a person signing out, but his does, unfourtunately it only works with MSN 4

But i can't open that notify program of zero1 as it gives a runtime error when it tries to make a messenger 4 object.

Can you tell me what was in it?

And BooGhost, give me the error number and when it occured, that way i can help you, also make sure you have the latest version, because one of the previous versions crashed when multiple events occured at the same time. This problem is solved however

and aspecially for msnlee, you can now hide the system tray icon

i added an event, the program now also detects when a contact is idle

i could make the program show you how long a person hasn't touched his pc, don't know if anyone could use that

Could you do so that it would only show changes for a specific contact? I would only like to monitor a few... And does the toast show when you go to Hidden mode (a.k.a. Boss protection)?

there now is an ignore list (people checked in this list will be ignored by the program)

don't expect anything from the idle list yet

Is there a way to save your settings after you close the program? It's a lot of work to check all but one name in the ignore list.

I have a tip: Give each version a version number so that ppl can see if their program is up to date or not.

wtbw, do you think it's so easy to make them, and who says it's finished anyway??? i can stand criticism, but not that kind of stuff, next time suggest something to make it better or do it yourself.

version 1.0.7 lets you select or deselect all the contacts in the lists by right clicking on them.

version 1.0.14: auto message should work now, just don't use any (,),{ or } in your message yet as this will cause a runtime error.

translation (i think): error "7" in execution time: insufficient memory

this is the error i get.... after it i accept it the program opens but nuthin can be done

booghost, the solution to this problem is very simple and doesn't involve formating your pc . this is because of the difference in the windows and msn messenger api. just reinstall windows messenger, run it once, and then go back to msn messenger and try the program again.

btw, the automessage will only work if a new IM window is created (aka when a person comes online for the first time or when you closed the window when the contact went away) or when the im window has focus. this to prevent the feature from getting annoying.

might be handy to explain how to use the automessage thingy:

just right click on the contact you want to message in the im window list (or ignore list) and click on the set auto message menu option. Type your message in the textbox and press the close button. Make sure the checkbox for that contact in the im window list is checked. Now the next time the person comes online he should get that message. If you want to stop messaging him, just click on the delete auto message menu option or uncheck the person if you want the message to be saved for a next time.

that would make it an event log, i'm sure the msgplus event log is good enough, but hey, why not

Wtbw, I was talking to Xerxis when he was making this plugin, when he was trying to make a toast window for the first time, I had seen your dll before, and tried it out, but i couldn't remember the name or where I had seen it (it's in my favourites, but my main computer is in a different country ), in the end i couldn't find it, so he made his own toast...

auto message feature should work fine now

starting work on the run feature which will enable you to start a program when a contact comes online

with the toast popup window - when it appears, i happened to be browsing the internet and was on a page where i had to scroll down. i noticed that your window seemed to...well, drag it leaves a trail when scrolling down. kind of an annoyance, but altogether not urgently serious. just thought i'd let ya kno

with version 1.0.19 you have the option of a program to be executed when a contact comes online

use it in the same manner as the auto message (see above for instructions)

I've added everyone on the ignore list, except the person i want notification from, and i put the .exe in as the sound file, but nothing...

also, i've noticed, instead of it playing a .mp3, it just simply uses the computer speaker to BEEP.

Could u ask the admin keep ur thread on the top & give the update time.
By the way,i found it annoy me too much.when I start ur software with MSN,it keep telling me "**'s status is offline".as many times as the numbers of my contact.

i know, that's why i didn't make it an option to start with messenger . but i'll see what i can do about it, it's just that when messenger starts it checks all your contacts and sends the events for them, not much i can do about that.

i don't think the admins will make a sticky of this thread

the current version is 1.0.20, still beta testing. don't know yet when the final version will be ready (i still have a lot of work to do), the first post of this thread always has the latest version with version number. also you can see the version number in the aboutbox.

in version 21 you can use the characters: ( ) % + without getting a runtime 5 error

runtimes error y more...... y dont use anymore...... make me nervious!!!!

it would be very useful if you told me what runtime errors and when you get them! otherwise i can't to anything about it

version 1.0.23 gives you the ability to:

- change the background of the toast popup
- disable / enable the toasts
- disable / enable soundeffects

i was having this problem where when i click on it in the Start menu nothing happens.  i mean NOTHING.  what should i do?

first look at your taskmanager, if there is a task statnotifier running then the program is in hidden mode.

open the registry editor (type regedit in the start - run)

go to hkey_current_user
software
vb and vba program settings
statusnotifier
settings

there should be an option minimize, make sure this says 0.


(ps: this is a known bug when running the program in hidden mode and will be repaired in the next version)

bug fix in version 1.0.27, now the program won't do strange things like showing all you offline contacts when started before messenger.
