I usually prune old threads when the post total gets near 60000. I haven't had much time lately though. Anyway, with the database tweaks I made recently, and the fairly low server load, I don't mind letting the posts add up.

I just finished pruning 3000 users who didn't activate their accounts... the threads are next... probably tomorrow. (y)

Well, if a thread is posted for informational/reference purposes, and you can tell by reading the subject, I usually won't prune it. If it's sticky, it has a better chance of surviving... :p

Find out yourself ;) (but it wont include the posts you don't have acces to, like in mod-forums etc.)

there go to the last page and count the amount of posts.
Now calculate:
(<total number of pages> - 1) * 20 + <amount of posts on that last page>

and currently you'll come to 1109

OK, I just pruned some posts...

Before: 62432 posts in 5104 threads
After: 56004 posts in 4434 threads

I was hoping to get the total lower than that, but I'm already starting to delete stuff from December... :-/ Oh well, I'll prune again in 2 weeks or so, and cover more forums.

BTW, I cleaned up this thread and moved it to Forum & Website because I like it. :chrongue:

anywho..... wj or chris should prune all dz's posts.. get alot more space then hehe

you should clean the should box more often too.. it'll help you get ahead of chromo ;)
