This is an idea I had yesterday while reading some simple questions about MP! in the forums and that would be quite interesting to attract new users.

It's simply to create Flash animations with instructions about the features of MP!. These could be easily integrated in the tutorails section and are easier to look up than the plain text...

Anybody with a little experience in Flash could do this. We would need a template to make them look similar from author to author, but that's it.

I think it would be Screenshots or animated screens to show how things work in MP!. Eventually we could also put voice in them or subtitles explaining what is done.

Well, it's just an idea. Maybe I'm feeling less lazy lately

Idea is good; especially with Messenger Plus! 3 coming soon, it might be a good chance to completely redo the FAQ section of the website.

Unfortunately, I know nothing about Flash, so I can't make tutorials like this, but it's really a great idea

I like the idea. I've thought about making tutorial before, but making them video ones, as I am only just learning Flash. I think Flash would be much better tho as the filesize would probably be much smaller

Yeah, and it has the advantages of interactivity and vectorial graphics (ie moving the mouse without being a video)
Flash is easy to use, but the fact is to have some experience with it and having used it much. But we will hardly need any Actionscript, so it will keep simple to develop (everything but the template, which might probably need some actionscripts).

This is hilarious, because I made one last night where the user can have semi interaction with plus! seeing where everything is.

Only thing is, Patchou would need to approve it before i give anybody the URL.

The idea wasn't to put it elsewhere but in msgplus.net, or here, for example (if there's bandwidth available).

And I think that it's a thing of the community. Patchou doesn't need to approve anything but the final flashs which would be put in the site.

I had a similar idea recently.  Flash tutorials have proved very successful in some places, and I definately think they would be well used.

Personally, my flash skills are "developing", unless swish counts?  I can use that.

Anyway, This is not exactly what I meant... My idea is to show the steps for achieving something. For example, how to create a custom status, create batch commands, set an emo-series in the emo-panel and so on.

Another idea would make them available in several languages (the problem is the language of the screenshots). It can be easily done with actionscript, so there's no problem with it: You choose at the beginning in which language you want to have the steps explained.

Well then, go for it and do it
