Oh and I have another question.. If I install the MSN Messenger for Mac will it take my MSN Messenger 6.2 for PC?

As far as i know you can only install the Mac version on a Mac.
And you can only install the Windows version on Windows.

Unless you are using emulators, but i don't think you do that. So there is now way to replace the Windows version with the Mac version on your system.

when i go to http://www.messenger.msn.com it doesn't show anything about 6.2, but still shows the link for 6.1 (i live in singapore btw).

has it been officially released? and/or does anybody have a download link to 6.2 that does work?

Probably better to wait for the official release of 6.2 as it is only today and those bugs will have been ironed out

What do u mean i think the new features are:
1. Mobile colour changes. and put the mobile contacts in 1 group
2. New games.. Only if u live in USA or adjust your things in hotmail that you live in USA the games will appear.
3. Fun & Games renamed from Launch Site
4. Fixed some bugs

I have msn 6.2 now but im waiting for the final release

another new feature: you can see the emoticons you type before it is send to your contact.

- Allows you to install the MSN toolbar for internet explorer
- Display mobile contacts in a group
- Autocomplete emoticons ( can not be turned off )
- 4 new launch-site items you have to PAY for
- 2 new API`s

MSN Messenger 6.2 isn't officialy released yet, so if you download one from a non-official-msn site now you'll propably have the version with bugs.

All of the MSN sites now are labelled "6.2" but they are givin' off 6.1... I've cleaned my cache.. what's wrong with msn?

They first update the lay-out and afterwards they'll update the SetupID.exe

Is the leaked msn 6.2 REALLY that buggy? I have it installed and it works fine.
(Although I am definately gonna install the new build)

I don't think Microsoft released much about the bug, but it had to be a bit for Microsoft to recall it. Probably the best idea just to install the new one.

the other may work... but you will be complaining when your computer gets hacked (or whatever the bug allows)

But wont i get the repair option if i install a version of the same build?
Or will it install like a new version because some parts are changed?

http://messenger.msn.ca version is giving me errors... saying it is missing something, then does a "roll back" not completing installation, then says erroe "1608" or something download a new version at MSN.com

then.. download it there...

the one released on thurday and the one released today are exactly the same thing. ive noticed no bugs in 6.2 if it keeps crashing its something to do with your pc or old msg plugins.
just because it crashed it doesnt mean its a bug with the program.

As long as you update software, get windows updates, do checks on ur pc etc. then things like msn should run OK

I'm having severe issues with MSN Messenger 6.2.  I can't log in...every time I try, I get an error.  This only happens on my desktop--it works just fine on my laptop.  I've attached a screenshot of the error I get, if the code might be helpful in any way.  Thanks a lot for you guys' help!

Tried restarting? Could be a memory error

It's not a hardware error, I'm absolutely certain of that.  And yes, I've tried restarting and I've tried cleaning out MSN Messenger's registry settings as recommended elsewhere on the forums.  It's a brand new computer with brand new RAM, and I've tested the RAM--it's good.

And besides, I NEVER had these types of issues with MSN Messenger 6.1.  It's only this new 6.2 that's screwing things up.

go to the add/remove programs list, and find msn messenger 6.2. use the repair funtion that is with the uninsall option, this may help, it worked for me

OK I got the workaround...have tried many times on my another computer


1. Uninstall MSN Messenger 6.1, and install 6.2. Reboot isn't required.
2. Don't try to sign in yet!
3. Open your registry editor (regedit), locate HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MSNMessenger
4. Export the whole PerPassportSettings to a file. (That is, back it up)
5. Delete the whole PerPassportSettings sub-directory.
6. You should be able to sign in successfully now. After you sign in, just sign out immediately.
(You need to perform signing in/out with every .net messenger passport acccount you have)
7. Restore your exported registry file - just locate the file and double click it. You will be prompted and click Yes, OK.
8. The revisedcookie bad cookie is crumbled (OK, joke, cookish, don't be angry please...)

well... actually me and my buddy's webcam's both crashed when we used them. We haven't changed cam's or anything.
