Hey Everyone, here is the latest Screenshot Sender 3 Beta.

As far as i know, the only major thing not working is the Specify, but let me know what you think so far.

Woah this is a lot better

Everything seems to work fine with 6.2 i havent had a good look but everything i did try worked. Says theres a more up2date version on your site but theres no download link on the site. Also on the update box would be nicer if you make the site address a hyperlink to save loading up IE and typing it out.

if i remember right, the last time i used ss3 i was using 6.2. so the new version should work with it. and does it even matter the messenger version for a msgplus plug-in to work?

Yea, your right, the messenger version shouldn't matter, i was just saying that i hadn't tested ti on it so i didnt know.

Can someone with Windows 98 and windows ME test it too please, as ive only been able to test it on XP.  Cheers

The update is lying, i had a really high update numer when i was testing it, you have the latest version.  I'll change the update thing, so it's a hyperlink.

Had anyone had any problems or found any bugs?  Or got any simple requests?

On your site there's a picture of an Options Screen, how to get there?

i dont think there is one in this version thats been released according to the update option theres a later version than the one we can download.

oh yea, i need to update that, thats the old options screen.

As there were more and more options, i had to use tabs to split the options up, which you can access by /xssoptions.

The options command was removed from the menu in preperation for the upcoming Plus! 3.

I also noticed that /xsssend, xsssave and xssother don't work. And xssoptions doesn't work either...

yea im still working on xsssend, xsssave and xssother.

Don't foroget this is still a beta, so everything is supposed to be working fully.

I'll add the options command back.

if you go to save a image and then decide not to and click cancel it says "Screenshot Saved To" Which is a lie!!!!!

both send and save webcam options work for me but if i specify a timer i dont get a little county down box

I got another bug, When i tried to send a Specified Area. I got an popup, to select anything, then I pressed Cancel, and I got this error.



When i tried to send an specified area again, it said this wasn't a command.

EDIT: None of the commands are working anymore... Going to reinstall the sender now...

that error means you havent got the tab control that i use in the option screen.  You need to download it.  search google. 

In the next beta i will make the installer check if you have all of the required files.

yea thats what i was thinking, but i wouldnt include them with the installer and make kit bigger, it would just download them if you need them.

Could you add a version number to yous plugin, because I installed the old one and now this one and I don't f****n know which one is installed and working.

Btw, it says "the selected command doesn't exist" when it is about to send the screenshot (after the countdown). But I think this is the old version, thou.

I was using it yesterday, and I went to send a screenshot, it previwed the right screenshot, but it then went on to send a previous screenshot.

Its looking good with this new version (3.0.382). Hopefully we can get it all nicely polished and ready to go to coincide with the release of Plus 3. What a combination

SS3 is in the final testing stages, i think its just specify that still needs some work on.. but Dempsey has been working non stop recently so it can be it its best. There is a new options tab for font and colours of the countdown ect. And a few more updates.

Is options meant to be working in the newest BETA?
I have it in the plugin menu, but the command don't work.

oh ok, whats happens when you try the options?  do you get an error message?  or just nothing?

Try click Other... and then clikcing on options and see if that works.

I get the Plus! popup saying try // when i do the options command.
I get error 339 when i try options through the other menu, after i click ok to that message Plus! then gives me the // message.

ah i know what it is now, you haven't got the Tab Control, you need to download it and put it in your system32 folder i think.

Just like to say I like the new Installer and you've outdone yourself again Dempsey...but one bug is that McAfee Personal Firewall Plus! detects it as a malicious script...you can click to just ignore it but some n00bs may think there's a virus in it...

Nice that you keep developing this plugin, but creating a new thread for every update is quite confusing and it makes referring (to errors/info/etc) realy hard

For example: Choli's translator is always updated in the same thread, that is much more convenient and efficient...

If i do Save Active Window with a countdown, the countdown don't work. It just saves the messenger window.
Also i have the Hide Windows Frame on, an sometimes it makes the frame come back an all weird.

I have some serious problems with this beta. Screenshot Sender seems to activate my TV Tuner card. So when I boot up MSN I heard sound from my TV. Another nasty thing is that I can't have sound conversations anymore because of this

Hordo - Thanks for letting me know, it does that because it think your tv tuner card is a webcam and when the plugin starts it initalises it to save time when using the /xsswebcam command.

I will make an extra option to enabled or disbale webcam initisation and have it disabled by default.

Well I have the exact same firewall as Anubis (McAfee Firewall plus 2004)and when I installed it SS3 didn't pick up nothing.

seems to me when i want to go to configure options it just doesnt display anything in conv window and doesnt bring up the configuration options

fixed it by deleating the dll's and installing it again

Save Active Window with a countdown still just saves the chat window for me.
Also i still get the weird messed up chat window when doing the minimize.

Ah, you must have the defalt time delay set in the options.  I could make two seperate time delays, one for sending and one for saving.

And i mean to save xssasave, not xssactive, d'oh

In the options it was the default 0.
I changed it to 5 in options, it now works .
I have to let it use the options countdown, it don't work if i add my own time after the command.

It only saves the chat window if i do xssasave 5.
I have to let it countdown using the time set in the options.

The chat window is not my active window.

I do the /xssasave 5 hit enter, i make the contact window my avtive window, the countdown finishes i save the picture, the picture saved is the chat window not the contact window.
This works fine with Send Active but not Save Active.

Which fils do you mean?  If you mean the images disappeared from the menu, then i am working on fixing this problem.

yeah that happened too but when i try to use any of the commands it says command not recognised happens if i click on options i get a pop up saying missing something (i think it was tablet32 sumat) then none of the commands work

oh yea, you need Microsoft Tabbed Browser Control.

look in google for it.  I will either include it in the installer in the future or use something else.

Why are the screenshots .png format and nog .jpeg or .jpg (whatever )

It's better with jpeg cause the files are smaller right?

You have a choice of 4 file formats, which can be chosen in the options panel. The supported formats are

• BMP
  
• JPG (with an options to set quality between 0 and 100)
  
• PNG (my personal favourite )
  
• TIFF

/xssoptions - will open up the options panel.

Check out the other commands in the Plus menu on your chat windows.

I've got version 3.0.326.

And it said this when i typed /xssoptions



And when i let it check for updates it says I have the latest version.

Check for updates is currently non-working.

Get the latest beta which comes with its own installer. Will do all of the DLL registering and such for you. Check Dempsey's first post for more.

A load of work has been done, so version 326 is positively obsolete

The first post actually links to 418. Maybe you need to refresh your browser cache?

Well I installed the beta but it's not working for me...it's not even listed in my plug-ins list.  I have tried installing several time, originally with the last version of MSN (6.1)...a no go...then decided maybe it's b/c I didn't have 6.2, installed that (6.2.0133) and installed it SS3 again, NOT working!

I tried SS3 Beta 3.0.148 but if I install it MSN won't start! It just hangs during sign in.  If I remove the Freeimage.dll, I get a path error, but MSN starts, but without the plugin. So I think there is problem with the freeimage.dll.

I use the latest MsgPlus 3 beta and MSN 6.2.

thanks for the fast reply. I understand that it won't function without the FreeImage.dll, however, I just wanted to see what the problem was.

I tried re-installing but still the same problem.  I will just keep checking here and wait for a new version.

Did you close out and re-start Msn Messenger?

Yeah, i did. Even went through the registry (why is it still called MsgPlus2 lol) and under RegisteredPlugins i see thats "it's" there. The usual files are in the plugins directory (FreeImage.dll & SS.dll) but it seems that MP just doesnt recognises it.
*The MoD freaks out*

you could try to register SS.dll but if that doesnt work then im not sure.

RegSvr32 "c:\program files\messenger plus! 3\plugins\ss.dll"

change the abobe to match your installation folder

Yep the newest beta certainly has a bug in it... there was no way to make it appear in the plugins list or even to activate it... i tried editing the msgplus registry settings to no avail...

however, the older ver 3.0.383 is it? works a treat great improvements on the previous version keep up the good work

For debugging issues i too upgraded from msgplus 2 to 3 although i tried everything with the newest beta including uninstalling msn/msgplus completely deleting the program files folder for the corresponding proggies and reinstalling it. Didn't work.

i got a little isue here..
ive set the default save directory to one directory.. but it seems when i choose SEND active/full/region/whatever.. it doesnt go to that one.. it goes to E:\Windows\Tmp\Screenshot Sender.. is there any way to put that ones to go also to the default save directory??

the default save drectory is where screenshots are saved by default when you SAVE, not when you SEND and they are temporally stored in the temp folder, in your case E:\Windows\Tmp\Screenshot Sender

I've been using this great plugin happily till... 6.2

installed messenger 6.2.0133 with msg plus 3 then no version of screenshot sender seem to work for me, i've downloaded all the 3.x versions around with no success

any one have a link for messenger 6.1 ? it's no more available in messenger website

Looky at my sig for all relevent info....clean instal of everything 'cause my PC messed up and I had to wipe my HDD ....not working at all, not showing up in the Plugins menu...which is really a pity 'cause I've used this plugin since it came out...and it's very nice

we are waiting for updated version

SS3... Me and my mates have installed SS3 on msgplus 3.1 and it doesnt seem to work... we have tryed reinstalling the plugin and everything. no menus show in plus for it. its in the plugin folder but doesnt work, typing /xssfull brings up "command unknown........." on plus.... any ideas as i like this plugin

mine did the same, try deleting it from plug-ins folder, close msn install the plugin then once its done go back on msn and it should work! it did for me

im working on a new version that ill be releasing soon and hopefully it will work for people then.

Is there anyway to minimize the open convo to get a screenshot of stuff behind it? It freezes during the countdown

use the taskbar to switch windows, but ill try and sortthis soon.

I don't know what happens with it, but it doesn't works. When i try to use it, the error "The types don't coincide" appears.

The pluggin is good, i like it too much.  I'm sure you will fix de problem.

I tried buidl 418 on several pcs and it's never listed into the plugin list... problem seems to be a bug

oh, yes, i hope a new version where the config panel appears because in 383 it doesnt do anything when i press it, and not being able to change the default extension (png) is very bad, because png screenshots are too big

First of all: Good to see you still working on this, and the menu looks great.

Also, I can do a Dutch translation if you want.

But now for the bad part: When I use /xsssave, and click "Cancel" in the Preview screen, it still goes on with saving.

I think there are also problems when you have the preview and you save images, it doesnt save them.

when i try to save  a picture.. a save it and then i go look for the picture and its not there

Whenever I try to send a shot with delay, or to open the options menu, it gives me a bunch of erros (please forgive me if the errors spelling is not correct, but i'm running the spanish version):
First:
(Error '13' en tiempo de ejecución: No coinciden los tipos) Error '13' on runtime: Types don't match

Then:
(Error '440' en tiempo de ejecución: Error de Automatizacion) Error '440' on runtime: Automatization error

And then (please hang at your chairs):
(Error '-2147418105 (80010007)' en tiempo de ejecucion: Error definido por la aplicacion o el objeto) Error '-2147418105 (80010007)' on runtime: Error defined by the aplication or object

After that, the ss3 commands are no longer recognized and seems to 'unload' the pluggin.

I'm running DnD Dice roller and HandWriting pluggin also installed, and I used to have MSSpeech, but it misteriuosly dessapeared

FLX - thats seems quite a problem

Can you try this - open regedit and goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Killer Carrot\Screenshot Sender[your emaill]

and change Log from 0 to 1

Then restart MSN and it will create a log in C:\SS3_Log.txt, can you send me that log.

Use the time delay, for example /xssfull 3 waits 3 seconds before taking the screenshot.

hmm dual monitors still isnt supported but it does weird things when i type the command /xssselect 1 in the old versions it would take a screenshot of  my right screen and display it on my right screen well when i type it now it takes a screanshot of my left screen then displays it on my right screen =/

  I'm getting this problem with all Screenshot Sender versions since version 3.0.383
  I'm from spain, so the error is in spanish, excuse me if my translation is wrong.

When i try to use any of the functions, i get an error:

  Error '13' en tiempo de ejecución: No coinciden los tipos

  Error '13' on runtime: Types don't match

And then, all the pictures in the pluggin menu dissapear, and when i try again to use any of the functions, it says the comand does not exist.

When i tell it to take a screenshot, and i give it a delay, it freeses msn for that time, i cant minimize it or anything....i want it to take a screeny of my desktop, not my msn window...

yea I think i'm going to change the way i do the delays, so that Messenger doesn't freeze.

Do you mean can different users on the same pc use it?  If so then yes it can as all settings are saved per email address.

Did you get the error when you tried to open the options?

I have this error message only when I want to set up, or to use its functions. The plugin is recognized, and I can access the submenu in "Plus! > Plugins > Screenshot sender > .... " (in chatting windows)... The commands are not recognized and also print the error message

For people who can't get Screenshot Sender to work can you download this and run it.

Select your email address from the list, click Enabled then either click the Reload Plugins button or restart Messenger

Then it will make a file called C:\SS3_Log.txt, could you please email or send it to me on Messenger, details in my profile.

Still have the same problem than Lorgan, after re-dl and install the plug-in... Is there a way to completely remove ss3 and it's registry key's berfore re-installing it ?

I just tried the "other" commands from the menu, and the "other" box and all that worked until i tried the config button in the "other" box, then the same execution error 13 ocured, followed bay an "Automation" error and a strange one:

I think the Preview Screenshot window should appear in the taskbar. When I use the countdown to take the screenshot and I change the focus to another window, the preview appears behind the active window, so I have to minimize it to send the screenshot. It worked in the previous version (beta 3).

I think the window with the preview and "send" button should check it's dimensions as for big screenshots the buttons are out of the screen.
This happens to me as I use 2 monitors: 1 in 1024*960 with what I'm doing (surf etc.) and a little one for msn. As the preview appears on the same monitor as the related convo, preview are often to big... Maybe preview image should be resized, with somewhere appearing real dimensions...

[I precise that SS3 still doesn't work on my computer, this is just one note from the time it worked...]

I was getting a 'Runtime error 13: Types don't match' message when trying to use the plugin, right?.  Well, i've tried to save and send an screenshot setting the delay time to 0, and it worked!
So, the error only appears when i set a delay time higher than 0.

errrm not using a USB drive, but i do have a USB dongle for my cubase

does iTunes open when you plug in your USB dongle?

no it doesn't i always have the dongle plugged in, it never caused any problems before

it mostly works but sometimes there are problems when you send a screeny of a selected area, when u are selecting the area the whole screen moves to the left which makes your selection innacurate. this happens very rarely though...

Ik gebruik de nieuwste versie (3.0.555), en die zou bij jou ook moeten werken. Misschien staat SS3 uitgeschakeld in de Messenger Plus! opties. Om hem weer aan te zetten ge je via het Plus! menu in je contactpersonenlijst naar Voorkeuren en ga daarin naar Plugins, zorg ervoor dat Screenshot Sender 3 aangevinkt staat.

I'm using the latest version (3.0.555), and it should work for you too. Maybe you have it disabled in the plugins list. To turn it back on: go to the Messenger Plus! preferences by clicking the Plus! menu in your contact list and clicking Preferences. From there, go to Plugins and make sure Screenshot Sender 3 is ticked.

hmm well I've found a few bugs (probley to do with my duel monitors)
in configure goign to area then clicking new area or select new area it all ways crashes and displays "Client site not avalible"

sending a full shot works and sends a duel screen picture but in preview it dosnt show the entire picture it only shows the middle of itto the width of one screen.

send selected area dosnt seem to be duel screen friendly and only allows me to select from my left hand screen.

ah ok, thanks for letting me know.  The Dual Screen code thats in Screenshot Sender was just kinda a test, but now I know that it partially works I can try to add it into the other parts of the code.

But I can't test it, so when I get some time I'll put together some code and then get some people with dual monitors to test it if they would?

Having a problem with screenshot sender when trying to take screenshot from selected area. It gives an error message "Sorry, this command is either not recognised or an error occurred during its processing. If the message was not supposed to be a command, please type a double // at its beginning". Screenshots from full screen or active window are working correctly. Windows XP, 5.01.2600, MSN versions 6.2.0206 and 7.0.0.777, plus ver.  3.50.124, stuffplug-ng ver. 0.7.150. Any idea how to fix?

trini - what version of Screenshot Sender do you have?  If it isn't 3.0.561, try installing Screenshot Sender 3.0.561

i think you use the "/dropfile" command. but what if i want to send the file using say File Transfer Plus.

This is a good plug-in which i found very helpful.
However, it seems to have problem to work with dynamic display picture....

I'm using:
MSN Messenger 7.0 (Build 7.0.0813)
Messenger Plus! 3.54.132
Screenshot Sender 3 Beta -3.0.561

I'm not able to download dynamic display picture from Meegos (http://www2.meegos.com/) when Screenshot Sender is enabled.

The MSN Messenger will be closed in the half-way i download the dynamic display picture and windows will ask me if want to send the report to microsoft.

I need to disable Screenshot Sender, download dynamic display picture, and then re-enable back Screenshot Sender then only it works.

I'm not sure this problem only happen to me or everyone.

it is the first version i use. i installed msgplus for the first time today!

i tried the re-registering of ss.dll and I checked that registry entry, which are fine. I can't register freeimage.dll, but that is perhaps ok... ?

I also tried the logging thing, but it doesn't give any interesting (it doesn't log anything related to the crash, only the initialization).

what are the last few lines in the log before it crashed?  It may help me find out why it crsahed.

I have experienced the exact same thing, with same version of Screenshot (the one on which you forgot which functions where added).  I have tryed with MSN 7.5 and with the upcomming Vista Messenger. It does the same thing. In my experience when completely turning off all the Messenger programs in the system tree (1x CTRL-ALT-DEL) the installation works fine and all items are installed into Messenger Plus!, as intended.

In the September issue of "Tips and Trucs", published in the Nederlands there is a special coverage on Messenger Plus!. The story is called ~Chatten De Luxe~. An item on the Screenshot Sender 3 is included, including some tips.  It has been recomended that the skin could easily be matched to intergrate with the commonlu used Plus! standard, and take other skins from that point onwards, if it pleases the designer, that is.

Furthermore I whish to thank the Messenger Plus! people for colouring up the chat experience. VOIP is the next thing that needs looking at within Plus!

I have a problem.
Every second or third time of a fresh install of this extension, it pops up  for a second when using /xsssend and it disappears immediately, locking my MSN IM window blocked(unable to be used/typed in/reactivated), and my MSN Messenger contact list blocked (same thing.) How can I fix this problem?

Anybody? This is a really cool concept, but it'd be so much better if I could get it to work.

I don't suppose there is any way to add the ability to just RIGHT-CLICK in the text message window and just click PASTE to paste a screenshot?  Or is there a way I could shortcut the /xss command?

Multiple monitors works fine for me, although I'm only on 1152x864 and a 1024x768.

can anyone tell me how to uninstall ss plz

well just remove the ss.dll from your ''C:/program files/messengerPlus 3/ plugins'' folder that should do it

The next version will come with a full uninstaller

But for now you can do the following:

• Exit Messenger.
  
• Remove Dempsey.SS from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Patchou\MsgPlus2\RegisteredPlugins
  
• Remove SS.Dll from Plugins Directory.
  
• Remove FreeImage.Dll from Plugins Directory.
  
• Restart Messenger and Screenshot Sender should be gone

I just installed version 3.0.561 (for the very first time) to check the features.

MSN Messenger 6.2.0208 was running (minimized to system tray). After installing sshot sender I clicked the msn messenger icon to find that it simply dissepeared, aka msn messenger was apparently forcefully closed in a bad way.

Running Plus! 3.62.146.

Bug? (PS: don't have time to test it again... I'll let you know more later)

Screenshot Sender was 3 Yesterday

According to New Plugin! - Screenshot Sender, Screenshot Sender 1 was released on 18-07-2003

So, talking of Screenshot Sender, it has been worked on a lot by Matty who's done a great job, had a few problems with some parts but progress is deffinatley being made and hopefully Screenshot Sender 4 won't be too long away

Nice work! Please make it compatible with Windows Vista. SS3 with the plus! live wrapper script doesn't work on Vista

All scripts have a trouble with Vista. To find details on how to get it to work properly, there are posts around there
