So whats new?
The User Interface has been completely redesigned. Sounds are now organised by SoundPacks, so you can quickly find the sound you like

Disable any sound or soundpack you like to prevent those you dont like from being played.

NEW Blocklist! prevent a person from sending you any sounds at all.

Stable, fully tested, we cant find anything wrong with it, Adding sounds and installing soundpacks WORKS!!!

ive probably missed quite a lot besides

Edit: Btw, Audiator 3 is NOT compatable with Audiator 2 soundpacks. Re-add the sounds manually and export them to generate a version 3 ini file (oh yeah, you can export soundpacks too)

Also, for soundpack makers, the folder structure has changed,

You've definatly missed the fact that there are now some insane amount of SoundIndexes... 254³ to be precise (16,387,064). Much more than the original 1000

Both people need the plugin, and the same soundpacks installed to be able to hear them...

too bad the two people need the plugin.it would be much more known if that would need to be.. i mean.. 60kb? why couldnt they do it something like.. even if they didnt have the plugin..the file would be "transfered" to the "victims" computer..and it would be played..now that would be funny.. but oh well..that wayl... i aint installing it..cuz i bet noone in my list has audiator to hear the sounds..and probably if i ask..they wont install it..but , if i would play the sounds without they having it..they would ask how i did that and probably would want to download it also.. oh well;..

well you both need the plugin installed, it's the same with msgplus? a contact without plus! won't hear the sounds.. ( or am I getting this wrong? ) so it would be normal for both to have the plugin

a) You will always need your contact to have Audiator installed to hear your sounds. Doing so any other way would be a security issue at the least.

b) Your contact will always need the sound you wish to play for similar reasons. Transferring sounds requires IP addresses which MSN doesn't make available willingly. People would complain if Audiator sent IP addresses about the place without people's permissions.

Section 1 - Installing

[1-1] How to install this plugin

This plugin comes with a nice installer to make it as
easy as possible to install. To install audiator, just
double click on the file you downloaded, and keep
clicking next until the dialog closes.
Then, restart messenger (or use a plugin reloader tool)
to activate the plugin.

[N.B.]
If you use a plugin reloader tool, such as PluginReloader
you will need to reopen the conversation window to make
the Audiator 3 menu items appear in the Plus! menu.



[1-2] How to uninstall this plugin

Should you decide that you no longer want this plugin
[and I hope that is never the case ], just complete
the following steps

1) Completely exit messenger, right click the tray icon
and click Exit to achieve this.
2) open control panel, and the add/remove programs applet
3) Find Audiator 3 in the list, and choose remove.
4) Follow the instructions, and when finished, reopen
messenger

Section 2 - Using

[2-1] What this plugin is useful for

Using this plugin you can add your own sounds to messenger
plus! without needing to know a programming language and
create a sounds plugin yourself, which has been the case
up until now.



[2-2] How to use this plugin

The main command for Audiator3 is the
/xauconfig
command. This will open up the main dialog from which
you can control the plugin, and send sounds to your
contacts.

To send a sound, just double click the text in the first
column of the sounds list.

To preview a sound before sending it, highlight it, and
click the musical note button.


[2-3] How to send a sound to a contact by command

If you know the command for the sound you want to send, you
can send it without using the config dialog. Simply
send this:
/xau<command>
For example, to send the default sound with the command "yes"
you would do
/xauyes

You can also specify your own message to send along with the
sound, using the form
/xau<command> <message>

For example, to send the message "I agree!" and play the yes
sound, you would do
/xauyes I Agree



Section 3 - Advanced Configuration
----------------------------------

[3-1] How to configure this plugin

There are several advanced options you can configure
including whether to show error toasts or not.
To access the options pannel, you can use the command
/xAUOptions
Or you can use the Options... button on the main config
dialog. Here you can Enable or disable error toasts, or
configure the Blocklist.



[3-2] Blocklist

The Audiator Blocklist allows you to stop sounds from
certain people being played. Alternatively, you can make
Audiator allow sounds ONLY from specific people.

To open the blocklist, you can use the Blocklist...button
in the Options dialog, or use the command
/xAUBlocklist

The first option  is whether to enable or disable the plugin.
If this box is unchecked, ALL sounds will be played. If it
is checked, then the list will be checked each time.

The next option is whether to play sounds from people not on
the sounds list.
If this is checked, all sounds will be played, unless the sender
is blocked.
If this box is cleared, no sounds will be played, unless the
sender is specifically allowed.

The last option on this dialog is whether to have a prompt the
first time a new user sends you a sound.
Each time a new user sends you a sound, a dialog will pop up
asking you whether you want to allow or block this person.

[3-2-1] How to block/unblock a contact

If you want to block/unblock a contact, and prevent or allow them to
send you sounds, you can do this in 3 different ways.

1) If you know the email address of the contact, you can send the
command
/xaublock <email>
/xauunblock <email>
For example, to block/unblock the person with email address me@domaincom
you would send the command
/xaublock me@domain.com
/xauunblock me@domain.com

2) If you know the email address of the contact, you can block them
via the blocklist dialog. Either send the command
/xaublocklist
or open the config dialog, click options, and then blocklist

Here, type the email address of the contact into the textbox and click
the Add button. Then highlight them in the list, and select the
"Do not allow this user to send me sounds" option to block them
or the "Allow this user to send me sounds" option, to allow them.

3) To block/unblock all users in a conversation, simply use the command
/xaublock
/xauunblock

only "bug" is that i forgot to write and include a proper readme in the installer, but thats hardly a bug now, is it

"Bug" = all those things that I couldn't be arsed to beta test

you may not have been arsed to test, but the rest of us were, and we squished all them bugs, cept that one "bug" about the readme

i am having trouble with v 3 with msn 6.2!!! i add in the simpsons and homer sound packs, they are there when i add em but when i restart they go away and then i am left with a list of 545 to 746 of empty folders!! HELP

As a general note, if anyone else has this problem it is simple to fix (not entirely sure how it occurs, perhaps someone could enlighten me on this)

start up regedit (start->run->regedit)
navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\optimism_ software\aux3\sounds
click on the sounds folder icon and press delete.
Close Regedit at this point

Go to any conversation window and type
/xaureload

or reload plugins or restart messenger, whichever

this will have removed everything. Now you must re-add the soundpacks you want (which will all be in your \plugins\audiator\soundpacks folder and shouldnt take more than a minute or so to do)

someone help me plz,I have messenger 6.2 and messenger plus! 3 and ive just downloaded Audiator3 and when i try to run it,it flashes up a Dos windows and disapears,and the plugin hasn't installed!! what do I need to do please?

can you give us some more information please.
eg windows version

also try copying the installer to c:\ then open a dos window
start->run->command.com
type Audiator3.exe and press enter
[or whatever you called the downloaded file]

and copy the output here if any

No it just wont do it,also the icon is blank,not like the previous audiator where the setup has an icon.My OS is Windows XP pro,if its possible that you could send me it or something,that might work,(I hope) lol

hmm that reminds me.. i changed the file earlier to the 0.009 version and didnt chnage the hashes or filesizes

How do you install it? I downloaded and ran the file put it just pop ups a command window for a split second and then disapperas. The installing information isn't in the FAQ either.

EDIT: Same as NeonLee, it says that the program cannot be run in DOS mode. I have WinXP Home.

could someone pls explain how i get the audiator 2 sounds to work in ver 3 .. i dont know how to change them to make them valid for ver 3 ....

you will need to either readd the sounds by hand
or make an audiator 3 soundpack by hand and import that
or import an audiator 3 soundpack that somebody else made

i recommend either 1 or 3.
2 is only for me really, cos i know what it looks like

Post a reply with a copy of your virus scanner and or firewall logs so i can work out where this false positive is coming from

I use Audiator 3, I even beta tested it, I've scanned it with Norton, AVG, and McAfee, adaware, spybot, etc...this plugin is 100% clean.

Ill look right into these things

EDIT1:
you are right, if you have 233 and 2335 double clicking 2335 sends 233. I shall look into this right away.

And yes it does screw up if you then delete 233 and try tto double click 2335.

However...
I went
Plus! -> Preferences -> Plugins -> Audiator3 -> Configure
and added the sounds there.
Then i went to a conversation window that was already open, and did /xAUconfig. and the sounds were there for me.

If this happens to you again there is a command you can use to reload the sounds list, i cant remember if it is in the menu or not, but /xAUReload will make sure the list in the config menu is accurate.

Le fait est que ma machine était completement propre et quand j'ai eu fini d'installer MSG PLUS et ce plug-in mon InterNet Explorer était plein d'adresse my search now and more quand j'ai passé le scan AD-WARE j'avais HIGH JACKING ATTEMP pour tout les liens ajouter.

Une Toolbar my search now était aussi ajoutée.

Pour ce qui laisse pensé du virus c'est simple, quand j'ai voulus entré une commande pour jouer le son avec ce plugin je me suis trompé et résultat tout mes contacts on été déconnecter simultanément !!! et on reçu un message Hi, HI JACK your machine !!!!

J'ai donc tout désintaller nettoyer ma machine et tout es revenu dans l'ordre !

Maintenant plus question d'installer des Plugin et MSG plus aussi.

Voilà les explications ça vous plait pas bien tampis pour vous, moi je vous ai prévenu maintenant vous faites ce que vous voulez mais venez pas vous plaindre après !

ok that random bug that plays the wrongs sounds, fixed that.
The other thing about sounds not being there, cant replicate that. if it happens again close the dialog and type
/xaureload
that'll fix it

ok my aud does not work at all now   i have reloaded uninstlled removed the registry downloaded the new one and redid every thing yet msn plus 3.0 and msn 6.2 133 does not show aud ne more!!! HELP!!!

When will we ba able to get the install.ini? I want to make a "You are an idiot"-soundpack.

Create a new folder called "My SoundPacks" somewhere, eg desktop
Create a new folder in there called SoundPacks
Create another new folder there called what you want your soundpack to be named. Copy the sound files to this folder.
Right click the All sounds menu in Audiator -> New SoundPack
Add the sounds you want to audiator individually to this new soundpack you just made
right click this new soundpack and click export to make your own install.ini file. Save it to the "SoundPacks" folder you made earlier
Select both subfolders within the My Soundpacks folder you made first
Send both to a compressed file
Upload your newly made zip file to MoRiA's new soundpacks gallery, here

and wait for us to authenticate it, then make it vailable for download

Its offline cos ive gone on holiday and switched off the server. will be back online as of monday evening sometime.

Audiator is a bit outdated now anyways cos of plus! custom sounds, but hey.

On a side note, french keyboard layouts are teh suck
