automessage limited? by uam on 05-01-2004 at 07:56 PM

Hi,
I wrote some automessages, and discovered only 9 of them being sent.
I tried to do it again, and it happened again, I wrote just
1
#2
#3
...
#15
and during test, the last one sent was 9.

Am I able to do something with it? If not, there should perhaps be some notice that there is restricted number of variations.

           Thanks,
               miloush

There is indeed a limit, as described in http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=21765 :)

Where did you want to put the message? :-/

Thanks for reply,
first of all I feel happy I am making no mistake ;)

In thread you referenced Yeppo has a problem prudicing lot of characters and as this, it was solved using quicktexts.

But my sentences are not so long (as during the test 8-|), and I think it shouldn't be a big problem to allow more than nine lines, is it?
I believe there is minimum people who would use so many variations, but it's a pitty to let the user type a very complicated automsg script and than use only part of it (moreover without warning...)

Well, the 9 limitation is to avoid flooding risks.... I think that 9 actions are way enough to do something "legal" ;).

Ok, I acknowledge your argument, however, some of friends are simply too patient and feel quite victouriously reaching the end of my automsg script.

I agree, that 9 is enough to tell your friends why you are away from the computer (and that you really are ;)), but it is not so many if you'd like to prepare them some funny conversation.

As long as flooding is mentioned, then why just not alllow the contact to turn off the auto replies (perhaps by sending a command)?
If my contact is out and I don't have anything serious, I am happy to see his away message, however, if I know he is out and need to tell him something important, his automessages become anoying.
