Google just escalated the e-mail storage arms race by a factor of 1,000. Several users of the search engine's Gmail Web-based e-mail service noticed Tuesday that their storage limits had quietly been raised to 1 million megabytes, or 1 terabyte. That's four times the typical capacity of a new high-end PC's hard drive.

going from 1GB to 1TB is a bit strange don't you think? You won't even ever need to use 1GB of e-mail storage in your whole life so what would you do with 1TB?

I find it very surprising to see 1TB storage...I mean its not that easy to get a 1TB hard drive, this will highly increase internet piracy. Just imagine being able to send an entire movie via e-mail. Perhaps they just mean unlimited storage but if that was so why don't they just say it?

Cool...seems to store just under 1GB of storage...has a nice interface...I just can't wait for it to come out of the BETA stage...

They haven't set a release date yet. However you can sign up to be a BETA tester.

it says "If you'd like to be updated about Gmail". They use your e-mailadress to send you news about Gmail. I subscribed a month ago 
. You don't get a Gmail adress that way.

It puts you like on a resereve list apparently. So if the test windens then a few of the "b" list will be chosen.
