Sign-in Toasts by ApOlLo on 05-27-2004 at 08:01 PM
Ok this is just so annoying
I don't want Messenger Plus! to show my contacts signing in and it does. I thought it's only suppose to do that for individual contacts when you have alerts off in MSN Messenger?
I get a sign in alert from both programs and grrrrr

I believe there is a way you can turn this off....
If you ticked "Enable Messenger Plus! notifications when contacts sign in" on Messenger Plus AND "Display alert when contact comes online" in MSN options under the General tab. Then it would show 2 toasts when a contact signs in. But im not 100% sure, if both those boxes are ticked then try unticking one for just MSGPlus or MSN giving alerts, or unticking both for no sign in alerts at all.

I haven't ticked in Messenger Plus! for it to show me when someone signs in and it still displays two...
I want MSN Messenger to handle sign-ins

It works fine here though...
Make sure you have set the correct options...
To only be notified for certain contacts:
Disable:
Tools > Options > General > "Display alerts when contacts come online"
Enable:
Plus > Preferences > Notifications > Popup Options > "Enable Messenger Plus! notifications windows"
Plus > Preferences > Notifications > Popup Defaults > "Enable Messenger Plus! notifications when contacts sign in"
Now, for every contact you can select the notifications you want to show up:
Right-click on a contact > Messenger Plus Extras > Notifications > ...
Contact goes offline: Show a notification if that contact goes offline
Contact's status changes to: <something> (note that selecting "any status" or "online" will popup a notification also when the contact comes online, even if you disable "contact signs-in")
contact signs-in: Show a notification if that contact comes online
Notify me next time: Only the next time the contact changes his status (according to what you've selected above), you 'll get a popup.
Notify me each time: Each time the contact changes his status (according to what you've selected above), you 'll get a popup.
To only be notified by MSN Messenger, and only when a contacts sign in:
Enable:
Tools > Options > General > "Display alerts when contacts come online"
Disable:
Plus > Preferences > Notifications > Popup Options > "Enable Messenger Plus! notifications windows"
Plus > Preferences > Notifications > Popup Defaults > "Contact goes offline"
Plus > Preferences > Notifications > Popup Defaults > "Contact changes his/her name"
Plus > Preferences > Notifications > Popup Defaults > "Enable Messenger Plus! notifications when contacts sign in"

Didn't you just read that I want MSN Messenger to handle sign-ins?
I am not stupid, god.
Don't you think that if I have MSN sign in alerts on and MsgPlus! sign in alerts off and both MSN and MsgPlus! display sign ins, it's not a bug?
Telling me to disable one and enable another (which I could have done anyways) doesn't solve it or change the fact it shouldn't happen

do u get 2 MSN messenger alerts, or one msn messenger alert and one msgplus alert?
RE: Sign-in Toasts by frankiedaman on 05-27-2004 at 08:51 PM
did this problem occur as soon as you installed it, or did it occur when you changed a setting (related to anything, not just toasts) in messenger plus?

Oh my god, I really can't believe what I am reading...

Reread my post without flaming and getting all jumpy!
You didn't made it clear that you wanted only MSN Messenger notifications in your first post, and as I was writing the explaination for you and testing to make sure it wasn't a bug (which took me some time, thank you), you posted the message that you actually wanted MSN Messenger toasts only. So I added that to my post...
Nobody calls you stupid, we are only here to try to help, so if you're a bit more polite, we are all happy...
Thank you

I know how to use the Plus! Preferences just fine...
Ugh, just leave it show twice it's easier...
And I didn't say I just wanted MSN Messenger notifications - I said I just wanted MSN Messenger to show sign ins... I didn;t mention about the status changes, offline notifications by Plus!
