Just a minor thing but like how we can have /away and /lunch etc for setting status, is there any chance of having irc style shortcuts for custom statii (statuses?) instead of / as well as the existsing keyboard shortcuts?

well, you can set your own shortcut for them in the preferences window, section personalised status. You can also use the /persostat command... what kind of shortcuts are the "irc style shortcuts"?

btw, it's statuses, i think.

or you can use /nbusy {name tag} ; /naway; /nbrb ...

ah, thanks the /nbusy etc was what i was looking for.
