I chose "Create a directory each month for every file" for chat logs, but it failed to do so. This function worked perfectly before, but I forget when or since which version PLUS! stopped making a new directory each month. This problem have bothered me for a few months, and I thought it might be automatically solved after installing a new version, which unfortunately is not the case. Is there anything I can do to restore this function? If more information needed, please tell me.

If it fails, what place are chat logs saved?

I do check all the boxes below the option. In fact, it looks like the attachment (Traditional Chinese, I think the position of the boxes are the same in all language?).

To Mnjul:
The logs are just saved under the directory "§Úªº¥æ½Í°O¿ý (My Chat Logs?)." The problem is that all logs keep getting larger, instead of being split and archived in a new directory each month.

Could you be a little bit more precise about "a few months"? I hope you have an enough old chat log file to provide this information

Well, since 2.51.68 (released on Nov. 1 '03), Plus! uses month name in localized language; in other words, directory names such as "¤Q¤@¤ë 2003" are used. Chances are, I wonder, Plus! couldn't obtain those localized month names from Windows and therefore it could not archive the files.

And by the way, you did sign in before changing those settings, didn't you?

It seems that only one directory named in Chinese was made automatically by Plus!, and that is "¤Q¤@¤ë(November) 2003." (Though I made new directories manually after the feature fails,  the dates in the logs clearly indicate the nature of those directories.) However, this function worked perfectly when directories were named in English.

I believe I set those preferences after signing in and don't remember ever changing those settings.

Am I the only one having this problem? No similar posts are found here.

After browsing my logs, I think I changed from Messenger 5.X to 6.1 in December 2003. Perhaps this might be useful.

I just tried the option "create a different directory for each file", and files "¤C¤ë(July) 2004.txt " are created under correct directories. Then I changed back to "create a directory each month for every file", but the directory "¤»¤ë(June) 2004" is still not created, and new logs are just appended to the old ones.

Because the function happened to fail after changing to Messenger 6.1, I thought there might be a connection. Maybe it's just a coincidence.

Perhaps I should try to live with the other option?

Meanwhile, I don't think ¤»¤ë 2004.txt is to be created when you switch back from Create a different directory for each file. Well, just set your time to July 31 23:59, and see if ¤C¤ë 2004 directories are created when it goes to August 1 and you talk to the contact and close the conversation window (so that Plus! knows it can archive old logs) (this could mess some things up, so be careful )

This is strange.... I agree that this must be related to the fact that Messenger Plus! can't create the directory with the name it's supposed to have. I'll try to fix that in the next version (by creating a directory with a default english name when the first one fails).
