You may never need to rent video conference time or crowd around a tinny-sounding speakerphone again. With iChat AV you can video conference right from your Desktop with up to three more people, or audio conference with up to nine more people. iChat AV doesn’t sacrifice quality for quantity. New H.264/AVC video technology in Tiger’s QuickTime dramatically improves picture quality while high-quality, full-duplex audio delivers natural-sounding conversation. iChat AV keeps conferencing simple: just click on a buddy to start your conference and then invite a few more buddies. A innovative new three-dimensional virtual chat room interface keeps your video conference organized. Graphical sound-level indicators keep you on top of who’s talking in audio conferences so you can always put a voice with a name.

This was announced ~2 weeks ago...
Anyway, the widgets feature is a pathethic ripoff of Konfabulator, a Mac freeware.
And the search feature is another ripoff from another Mac program, called Launchbar.

well the video chat is amazing i simply cant deny that (although the contrived way in which the convo started was a bit silly, all very informal as though they just happend to be there)
but its great very impressive.
but Steve said that they are now the leading OS maker which is true but it should have always been true. if youve gone along the path of less choice, more stability and seamless intergration then yes it should be easy to innovate because youre not worrying anywhere near as much about compatibility because you make all the products. (if your innovation is less than Microsoft then id be worried, that isnt the way round it should ever have been)
i think its great that we are seeing innovation for them again because it looks amazing and other companies can copy it when their ready.
unfortuanely these innovations dont really surprise me, the way apple sell the hardware and software together mean that the OS should look as good as that video chat
To sum up, yep its amazing but what can i say it always should be like that or apple are doing something wrong
