hey guys, i'm having a really annoying problem atm.
when i double click an online contact on my contact list, the IM window comes up, but a second later, a compose new email window addressed to the person also pops up.
it's exactly like when you double click an offline contact and that window comes up
i've tried uninstalling plus, and then messenger.
can anyone help? thanks in advance.

If it did, then have you plugins installed? If so, which ones? Try to disable them one by one to find the culprint...

yeah i've tried redownloading it too...is there somehow i can do a clean install deleting the stuff from registry too? cuz it's getting pretty annoying...it seems like my esc key doesn't close windows either, even after multiple restarts and such =/

Yes, try a clean reinstall, more info here.

ahhh i folllowed the steps for the clean install, and then when i start messenger, this error comes up:
msnmsger.exe - Unable to Locate Component
This application has failed to start because VP.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
the program still runs fine after that, but there's still the email pop-up that occurs.

VP.DLL is from InfoPen. By cleaning out the registry you also broke those links needed for InfoPen...
Also, do you have StuffPlug-NG? There is an issue between InfoPen and StuffPlug (unless TB has fixed it in the new release, I dunno about that). Make sure you have installed the latest StuffPlug version: http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=30009
Now, to fix the errors: uninstall InfoPen completely:
add/remove programs > InfoPen
Then install the handwriting plugin instead if you wish to be able to "handwrite". You can download the complete package here: http://downloads.mess.be/SLim_Shady/downloads/msn...g(www.mess.be).zip

If all this is done, the problem should be fixed (and the VP.DLL-error should be gone also)...

YES I FIXED THE PROBLEM!
it was some kind of conflict with infopen...i uninstalled that now my msn works fine, and the esc key works too =)
