is it possible to receive notifications when contacts on your list init a chat window (double click on your nick) but has yet to send any messages to u?
sorry, i am not very sure of the msn messenger protocol.

you mean when they open a conversation? Yeah. Download stuffplug ng from www.stuffplug.com and be sure to get the activation code there too

There are also other plug-ins that can do this. Take a look at CookieRevised's reply to How can you see if someone opens your conversation box
