I'm thinking of buying a new video card and can't decide which one is a better make. Radeon or GeForce. I need it for mostly for games so I need a really good card. I'm trying to stay in the $300 range. RE: Radeon or GeForce? by Pyroteq on 08-30-2004 at 06:30 AM This would be good for me too and it dosnt have to be in the $300 just below 400 is ok ive been looking at the Radeon 9800 Pro, 9800XT, 9600 and Nvidia Geforce4 RE: RE: Radeon or GeForce? by Hank on 08-30-2004 at 10:32 AM
quote: i'd suggest a GeXcUBe 9800Pro ATI card.. there good for games an Nvidia have problems with there drivers. go here have a look at the website at the cards. http://www.gecube.com.tw/ RE: Radeon or GeForce? by Garndell on 08-30-2004 at 01:01 PM
For $300 you can get a GeForce 6800 RE: Radeon or GeForce? by RaceProUK on 08-30-2004 at 02:06 PM
quote:That's probably because the GF6800 is much newer than the Radeon 9700. IMO, go for a Radeon 9800XT. Top performance, top clarity, no driver issues, basically the best card there is. RE: Radeon or GeForce? by jren207 on 08-30-2004 at 04:41 PM Get a GeForce4 MX460, it's very good and I have no problems with it, I haven't checked the price yet... RE: Radeon or GeForce? by jren207 on 08-30-2004 at 05:53 PM meh.... it works great though RE: Radeon or GeForce? by Garndell on 08-30-2004 at 07:56 PM
quote: But the drivers on the Radeon were quite frankly shocking. A GeForce 6800 would outperform a 9800XT for less money aswell. RE: Radeon or GeForce? by sasquatch on 08-30-2004 at 11:47 PM nVidia only makes the drivers, as for the video card, ATI's are better built, but some of the nVidia cards are kick ass too, but overall, the nVidia driver's are much better then ATI's that if i found two comparable cards for the same price, i would choose nVidia over ATI anyday RE: Radeon or GeForce? by RaceProUK on 08-31-2004 at 09:17 AM
quote:Last comparison I saw, the drivers offered similar performance, but the ATI's graphics were clearer. That makes the ATI drivers better. RE: Radeon or GeForce? by JedeyeNite on 08-31-2004 at 03:01 PM
Yeah, go with the radeon. The latest cards for both nVidia and Ati are both quite similar as far as frames per second go. But the nVidia cards cut corners in certain calculations, such as colour calcs. RE: Radeon or GeForce? by Garndell on 08-31-2004 at 11:45 PM
quote: I'd like to know where you heard that about nVidia cards. Here in the UK I can get a 6800 for circa £200. I can get a 9800XT for circa £275. In all the reviews & tests of the X800 Series, 6800 Series, 9800 series & 5900 series the 6800 or the 6800GT provide the best performance/price ration. RE: Radeon or GeForce? by DJeX on 09-01-2004 at 04:45 AM Thanks for all your help, I think I'll go with the ATI Radeon. RE: Radeon or GeForce? by Pyroteq on 09-01-2004 at 07:20 AM I think ill go with the 9800Pro or the 9800XT if i can afford it..anyone got an australian priceing on these? |
