RE: Ping Command - Suggestion by Mippo on 08-31-2004 at 09:38 AM I think it's been done (on purpose) to prevent a Pong! flood if you're in a conversation with many people (correct me if I'm wrong). RE: Ping Command - Suggestion by Choli on 08-31-2004 at 01:48 PM Mippo is right. If several people send a pong at the same time (more or less), the conversation would become a chaos. RE: Ping Command - Suggestion by CookieRevised on 08-31-2004 at 02:17 PM
not realy.... IMHO..... RE: RE: Ping Command - Suggestion by Anubis on 08-31-2004 at 02:23 PM
Yeah, I agree with Cookie, there is not really a problem in large conversations because there are a lot of people...if someone gets annoying and keeps doing it you can block them and all leave or just disable a pong being sent in preferences...however wouldn't it actually be more accurate if; RE: Ping Command - Suggestion by RaceProUK on 08-31-2004 at 10:01 PM
quote:Blocks have no effect in group convos. That's probably one of the reasons for SPNG's Ignore User feature. RE: Ping Command - Suggestion by brianjdupuis on 08-31-2004 at 10:09 PM This is a very interesting suggestion only if somehow it could work!!! RE: Ping Command - Suggestion by RaceProUK on 08-31-2004 at 10:11 PM /xignore <email> IIRC... RE: Ping Command - Suggestion by Mario Achkar on 09-01-2004 at 12:43 PM Well if this is so annoying and it has been disabled then why do i receive reply when in a 2 + ppl convo by sending Ping? [msgplus]. but it's just that i don't see the time it took so why not fix it so i can see the time or something cause in both ways i can flood the convo right now lol RE: Ping Command - Suggestion by Anubis on 09-01-2004 at 12:58 PM
quote:I never said they did, I meant block whoever invites you/all of them... RE: Ping Command - Suggestion by siebe on 09-03-2004 at 06:16 PM It's still possible by not using Messenger Plus, as long as you know what to send (either using the protocol or by copy & pasting a message into the box and hitting enter). RE: Ping Command - Suggestion by Choli on 09-03-2004 at 07:04 PM
quote:the message is "Ping? [msgplus]" (without the quotes), however if you send that Plus won't be able to calculate the pinging time, and something like this will be seen (each line, one diferent contact): Ping? [request] Pong! [resp] Pong! [?????] Pong! [?????] Pong! [?????] RE: Ping Command - Suggestion by michael_m91 on 09-04-2004 at 02:32 AM
I don't think that this idea should be ignored just because it could flood chats. RE: Ping Command - Suggestion by Mario Achkar on 09-12-2004 at 01:15 PM well, michael is right either the command Ping?[msgplus] should be disabled in multiple convos or it should be made to work even with the /ping command well , we have to hear patchou's opinion RE: Ping Command - Suggestion by Patchou on 09-13-2004 at 12:47 AM Well, the thing is that the way the Ping command is functionning, multi-user convos ping could create incoherence... so no, sorry, at least, notin the next release |
