Lycos mail by bartgrefte on 08-31-2004 at 02:12 PM

Hello,

i recently found out that you can add 5 POP3 email adresses to MSG Plus. Now here's my question:
I have a Lycos email account which has a http server (http://webdav.lycos.nl/httpmail.asp), not a pop3 server. Is MSG Plus going to support this in the future??
Does anyone know??

Greetings from,

Bart Grefte

Messenger Plus! has a POP3 Mail checker, meaning it can check PoP3 mail. your Lycos mail is WEB BASED, and Plus! cannot interface with that. there might be a program that acts as a proxy between you and you lycos mail. google for it

You could use YahooPops, which is a program that provides a POP3 server interface at one end to talk to email clients and an HTTP client (browser) interface at the other. This application is often used by Yahoo or other webmail  users who want to check their accounts through an email client like Outlook or Thunderbird but it can also be used for the POP3 options in Messenger Plus!.

You can download it here.

I know there are alternatives in the form of external programs which act like a local pop3-server, but this request is asked a lot.
Maybe it would indeed be nice if Messenger Plus! supports also forms of webbased email in a way (if possible, since there isn't realy a protocol for it and every webmail can use its own "thingie").

well, he could get thousands of different pop3 enabled emails... that is beside the point here... he made a suggestion, he doesn't ask for another mail....
