I've made a music player with visulizations. But inorder for the visulizations to work you need either the Wave Out Mix setting or if you have a sound blaster card the What U Hear setting turned on in your Sound Options under recorde.
How could I do some kind of check or maybe even set those settings within my program. I used VB to make my program.
Maybe in the registry?

No. You need to use the multimedia APIs of Windows. Using them in VB is a bit complex but it's totally possible (maybe in VC is also complex or not, i dunno, i've only used those APIs in VB programs).
If I can remember correctly the APIs you need are: mixerOpen, mixerClose, mixerGetControlDetails, mixerSetControlDetails, etc...
Here you have an example. I don't know what it does, nor I have the time to read and understand it, however I think it'd be useful for you.
