Mess with your nickname by Chrono on 09-17-2004 at 10:22 AM

This is very dodgy, put these characters at the begining and at the end of ur nickname:

At the begining: இ๑
At the end: ๑இ

it will look like this:
&#2951;&#3665; <nickname> &#3665;&#2951;

Now see what happens... ur nick and the "says" word will be messed, and it changes the effect every time u say something :P

Edited: blah, see the attachment for the characters :P

Doesn't work when I put it like that but copying the characters from the notepad file seems to work.

Edit: Made my nickname a different font and the says: part seems to go back and forth from bold to normal randomly.

RE: Mess with your nickname by stu on 09-27-2004 at 04:19 PM

Does anybody know a way to customize like what size the text is, and what font the text is, rather than it just being "random"?

RE: Mess with your nickname by Osiris on 09-27-2004 at 06:00 PM

&#2951;&#3665; mine seems to randomly bold the says bit and puts my name in a different font... does anyone know what those characters actually ARE? ie what theyre meant to be? or be used for? &#3665;&#2951;

EDIT: oh yeah.. silly me.. 8-) cant put them in a post :P obviously other people would have..

RE: Mess with your nickname by Animefan on 09-27-2004 at 06:38 PM

Random??
Mine isnt random at al...

It looks cool though :)

AND also I like the fact that it works without people got to have Plus :)

RE: Mess with your nickname by Abz2k4 on 09-27-2004 at 07:46 PM

Mine isn't random, it's the same as this

RE: Mess with your nickname by saralk on 09-27-2004 at 07:53 PM

mine is the font of the last person who spoke

RE: Mess with your nickname by stu on 09-27-2004 at 08:06 PM

Yes, random... You cant actually select the font and size that u want, and the little symbol that appears infront of your name and at the end is really annoying..
Im not much of a coder, but obviously the numbers &#2951;&#3665; are what actually change the font and whatever. Does anyone know which numbers do what, or a place where we can see them to make it do what we want?
And one more thing, once we actually have the numbers, how do you convert the numbers to the formatting tag -- the little boxes--?

RE: Mess with your nickname by VuDu on 09-28-2004 at 02:42 PM

those are arabic charecters that for some reason change the text.

use character map to find more like those :)

no not random... Random means "changing all the time", which is not, it always is the same....

&#3665; is the one that changes the "font"....
&#2951; is the one that resets your font to what it was...

The "numbers" are ASCII codes. Every possible letter then you can write has an ASCII code. ASCII codes are put in as ALT+<code>... To put a letter "A" for example you can type ALT+65...

Normal ASCII goes from 0 to 255. Then there are Unicode codes for "special" languages which use different letters (like Chinese, Arabic, Hebrew, etc...)

The notation "&#2951;" is the HTML equivalent of ALT+<code>. This is how websites can "produce" the letters. To write the Unicode character 2951 in programs, you do ALT+2951, thus also in MSN Messenger... Note that in some programs, which don't support "RichText", you wont see the correct character (eg. Notepad), but in programs which do support "RichText" (eg. WordPad) you will see the correct character...

To find other symbols and stuff, do as VuDu said, use the small Windows tool called CharacterMap. Note that in CharacterMap (and possible other programs and resources) you'll find the numbers written as hexadecimal instead of decimal. The decimal number "2951" would be in hexadecimal: "0B87". So you'll need to convert the hexadecimal number to a decimal number before you can use it....

To find out if there are any other special cases where characters actually "do" things, search the various MSN Messenger resources like mess.be, etc...

Also, the black squares that you sometimes see are nothing more then replacements for the actual character. The replacement is done because sometimes the actual character can't be shown with the current fontsettings...

And also, it only works in some cases though, and it also depends on what font you use in the conversation window....
RE: Mess with your nickname by Jimcando on 10-05-2004 at 07:26 PM

its not very gd, no offence

RE: Mess with your nickname by weirdal27 on 10-06-2004 at 01:00 AM

you can always use msgplus to make the characters white, then they wouldent show up (if the other person has plus)

RE: Mess with your nickname by Duanezee on 11-22-2004 at 05:40 PM

alt+2951 you can use many other keys instead such as alt+2950 and many more
