hello

im sick of microsoft (msn) and payware (mirc) im thinking about starting to use freeware software to chat, i know about trillian (there's a free version) and gaim. both support irc and msn (those are the two that i really need).

does anyway know other?
will there be a software that is able to view webcam from a msn messenger chat?
any other software that supports encryption?

thanks

msn messenger is completely freeware :-/ I'm not sure why you are sick of it, you can view webcam through gilly messenger, but i'm not sure where to get it, try good :D

RE: chat by thing on 09-28-2004 at 10:09 PM

gilly messenger is very nice but it wont work with webcam... it says that i should download msn messenger, and i do already have it installed.

gilly messenger
gaim
trillian
amsn

others?

too bad i can't get the webcam to work.
if you ask me why im looking for this... its because... huh... i use my computer at work and they will remove msn messenger forever, i won't be able to use it.

thanks!

aMSN requires a working Tcl/Tk installation to work, but otherwise is a very good substitute.
In fact, I use both MSN and aMSN (MSN under Windows, aMSN under Linux and as a spam-receiver for testing plugins).

there's also mercury... http://www.mercury.to

this one is cross-platform, but personally I think it sucks. :p

btw, gilly doesn't support webcam...

get real my friend... i only use freeware! the only thing i paid (i didn't, i got it when i wanted to buy this computer) was microsoft windows 98 second edition, everything that i use is freeware and its the best! i only miss "babylon". "mirc" and some network tools. but most of my time i work with slackware linux
