RE: Handwritting unknow error by Osiris on 09-29-2004 at 09:30 PM

how do you know if your running it in compatibility mode and how do you stop it?

Right click the programs .exe (not the shortcut) => Properties => Compatibility Tab

Turned On => "Run this program in compat..." is checked
Turned Off => "Run this program in compat..." is unchecked

If you went from the shortcut wouldn't it only work for that shortcut? So if you went from another shortcut or from the actually .exe it wouldn't apply to that?

That's what I'm thinking. Never tried it but would be nice to know if that's how it works.

yes it does... but that depends on what Windows version you got. in XP for example, if you set the compatibility of a shortcut (yes it is possible), Windows is intelligent enough to realise it is for the actual program, and vice versa. Both will change. (everything you set in the shortcut reflects the program and vice versa)
