I want to run linux on my laptop, however i dont want to make a new partition as my laptop HDD isnt very big at the moment (only 18gb), so where do I start? RE: linux on laptop by .blade// on 10-05-2004 at 04:18 PM

Na, jk If you want to run Linux without partitioning, you have very few options: 1) You can store all of your data on an external HDD and then format your HDD and install Linux as your primary OS 2) You can use a Virtual PC type program to run Linux, but you won't get very good performance. 3) You can whipe your HDD clean and start over with Linux 4) You could go through the costly process of getting a new, bigger primary or seccondary HDD for your laptop 5) Suck it up and partition your HDD .. Saralk, I would suggest you contact the Laptop retailer/manufacturar if you wish to get a bigger primary or a slave drive for your laptop, but it's likely that buying a new HDD for a Laptop that is not brand new or top of the line would not be worth it...
