Mistake in the french-translated website by apquiche on 11-02-2004 at 05:01 PM

Curiously, the "3M downloads" in the english version of the download section of msgplus.net are replaced by "2M downloads" in the french version... I know that french people are known to be modest :D, but I think that this time it's a mistake.

English version :
http://www.msgplus.net/download.php

French version :
http://www.msgplus.net/global.php?lang=fr

Anybody can confirm?

++

i'm not sure, but that could be the ammount of french versions downloaded

edit:
no it says 2 million for all other languages aswell
RE: Mistake in the french-translated website by Patchou on 11-02-2004 at 06:06 PM

Well, the count is now 3M but I'm too lazy to edit all the languages for such a small change :)

RE: Mistake in the french-translated website by Eljay on 11-02-2004 at 06:09 PM

i wouldnt class a million more downloads as a small change :O

RE: Mistake in the french-translated website by apquiche on 11-02-2004 at 06:28 PM

oki doki :D

but you could change the english version, because if Plus! has been downloaded more than 3 millions times, it still has been downloaded more than 2 million times :D
just kidding... => I know that 3 millions are more attractive than 2 :D

What about a script, that counts the amount of downloads and displays them?

Not necessarily... ^o)

Patch: why don't you use a variable instead of the number hard coded in the languages (just like with that years variable, etc.)?

RE: Mistake in the french-translated website by Moo on 11-19-2004 at 10:48 PM

Hahaha!
Why does it say <--Avant <-- ? Does the button go before?

Edit: I could help translating the page!

The webchat applet was quickly translated by a non-native speaker. We are always happy to hear improvements to the translation :)

Does that mean I could translate it?
RE: Mistake in the french-translated website by Tochjo on 11-19-2004 at 11:09 PM

Simply post the correct translations here; it's not like it's a very long document ;)

RE: Mistake in the french-translated website by Moo on 11-19-2004 at 11:15 PM

Insetad of saying «Avant»... it should say «Retour»

«Demandez votre question et êtes patiente, SVP. Si n'est pas de personne est répondre au question, quelqu'un à repondre bientôt. Merci.»
should be :
«Demandez votre question et, SVP, soyez patient. Si personne ne répond à votre question, quelqu'un le fera bientôt. Merci.»

«L'aide pour MSN et Messenger Plus!»
should read :
«Obtenir de l'aide pour MSN et Messenger Plus!»

While chatting:
[ chatting in french ]
should be :
[ vous chattez en français ]

<< Go back to the channel index
should be :
<< Retour
(there is no channel index... just a language index)

And «NOTE: Quand vous fermez cette fenêtre, vous serez déconnecté(e) du chat.»
should be :
«NOTE: Quand vous fermerez cette fenêtre, vous serez déconnecté(e) du chat.»

It's french? Lol, no.

chatting in french should be chatter en français

And for quelqu'un d'autre le fera bientôt I think quelqu'un le fera bientôt is better.
RE: Mistake in the french-translated website by Moo on 11-19-2004 at 11:52 PM

Non car «chatting» n'est pas à l'infinitif...  si on disait «chatter en français» ce serait comme si on donnait une instruction
[No because «chatting» is not at the infinitive (to chat)... if we were saying «chatter en français» it would be as if we were giving an instruction]

Et pour le «quelqu'un d'autre»... je crois que tu a raison!
[As for the «quelqu'un d'autre»... I think you're right!]

RE: Mistake in the french-translated website by Goshi on 11-20-2004 at 12:02 AM

Mouais, ben en tout cas c'est pas clavardez, lol, j'ai jamais entendu ce mot. Ca doit être canadien :P. Je vais demander à ma contact québecoise:D

Clavardez is not french, i'm thinking it's canadian:). I will ask to a canadian contact

edit : yes, she know clavardez too but I don't know that

Tu as raison... clavarder ne paraît pas dans le dictionnaire...

You are right... «clavarder» is not in the dictionnary

Hum, non, c'est à l'infinitif, une instruction serait plutôt du type chattez, non ?

I think that <chatter> is not an instruction but <chattez> is one:$

edit : ah ok, in fact, i had not understand english version:$
RE: Mistake in the french-translated website by Apatik on 11-20-2004 at 12:14 AM

«Chattez en français» serait donner un ordre
«Chattez en français» would be giving an order

RE: Mistake in the french-translated website by apquiche on 11-28-2004 at 05:39 PM

Sorry, mais on dit pas "demander une question", on dit "poser une question"...

Excusez-moi ;) but we just say "poser une question instead of "demander une question"...

bye
++

[EDIT] And "Obtenir de l'aide..." doesn't fit in the box anymore ;)

Mais c'est la seule chose qui fait du sens...
But it's the only thing that makes secne...

RE: Mistake in the french-translated website by vlio on 11-28-2004 at 08:17 PM

RE: Mistake in the french-translated website by Apatik on 11-29-2004 at 12:11 AM

à propos de jaser, en france on l'utilise aussi mais il n'a pas du tout le même sens... :-/
