I'd do this, since guests won't see msgplus as a spamming community, they'll think it's clean, and thus not spam the forum to death.

I think it avoids the forums to have a bad reputation. At least, for guests, who are 70% (80 maybe?) of the visitors.

Actually, I agree, this would be a good idea...Also it would make finding help a lot easier for guests since all the :spam: is filtered...
But I don't get how it would really make any difference to the server load jren207; the difference would be marginal at best.

Good idea actually, you have my vote.
The T&T section isn't relevant for guests who just want to get some quick help, but otherwise when you're at a school / work computer that records your keys and you don't want to log in and just want to have a quick look at the forums, you can't view the T&T forums...

the guests don't post in the offtopic section anyway. It's just to prevent them from viewing it. Why would that piss wdz off?

I check for example @ school the posts and I can't login there (dodgy proxy caching)

I also like to be guest and browse the forums ¬_¬

Maybe only hide it and leave the viewing permission ¬_¬ (dunno if possible)

Not Possible. Besides, guests browsing T&T shows the spamy side of the forums in my opinion.

Not everything in T&T is garbage though!!! There are actually some interesting discussions and important pieces of information posted there... there have been times when me and at least several other members have searched for certain posts, only to realize that they were in T&T and got pruned.

I think it is a good idea to not let guests view the T&T Forum.  That forum should only be for members anyways, since guests probably wont/don't care about what is in it.  You got my Vote :banana:

I dont agree with this...
Sometimes i visit the forums from an internet cafe and i usually visit the T&T forums to see if there is anything 'new' .
I wouldnt mind to login if there was a "Remember Me" feature but since there isnt, i usually forget to log out...

OMG i almost had a heart attack when i went to the site before loggin on and saw that T&T was gone *panick*  But then i signed in and everythin was fine and i found this thread

I agree is a good thing so the boards dont have a rep for talkin about utter nonsense and are seen as a forum that helps ppl and stays on topic

Er... wouldn't it be better to just hide T&T from the index instead of completely blocking access to it? :-/

That way, people could give links of T&T threads to non-registered people, and experienced members who access the board as guests could go directly to the T&T URL.

Actually that does make alot of sense too.  The average n00b that would think bad about our forum cause of what is in T&T would be too much of a n00b to even figure out how to get to the forum this way. 

WAY TO GO SOCK!!!!

Hiding from the index? How would that help? I doubt guests click Testing & Trashing (which always has a relatively small post/thread count BTW) on the index and say "oh noes, this community is full of spam!"... :p

That point also applies to completely banning guests from T&T... :-/

My vote is neutral, I mostly check the forums at home so I have no problems logging in. I don't see what the point is anyways, if someone wants to post something they will have to register and they will see T&T, which I don't think is something we should be ashamed of :refuck: :)
