There is no virus in Messenger Plus!. The warning you get is a false warning from AVG, so nothing to worry about.

Any moderate/advanced user know very well that if a trojan was installed with my software, a lot of other signs would be present than an anti-virus warning (like firewall alerts). Nevertheless, this certainely doesn't give a good idea to users in general. I contacted the sponsor company, they did some research, and as I suspected, some anti-virus (none of the major companies though) wrongly detect a trojan called Trojan.Download.Swizz in one of the setup files that the sponsor unpacks in your temporary directory.

Unfortunatly, the company that made AVG is very reluctant to remove this false warning. Why? We don't know, but there is certainly no virus in Messenger Plus!.

I suggest to switch to a proper virusscanner (Norton, McAffee, etc...) instead of a free one.

Uuummm.... ok? Messenger Plus! contains no viruses or spyware, just an optional sponsor program. If you installed it by mistake and would like to get rid of it, please visit this thread and follow the instructions.

Maybe, AVG is the best free anti-virus software.
But I think you need a reliable one like Cookie mentioned ;p

Well its obviously not the best anti-virus software if it tells you something is a virus when it really isn't.

Exactly... this kind of company is believed to be the best simply because it detects more files as being dangerous and as nobody generally bothers to check if the antivirus is right or wrong, it just make a good publicity for them.

It detects stuff such as spyware too and gets rid off it!

yeah but being the sponsor adware itself, its obvious that adaware will detect it and *try* to remove it :P

Get firefox as a pop up blocker. I have to say, ive used alot of pop up blockes, nothing matches Firefox's built in pop up blocker. Not only that, you can get an extension that automaticly removes add coockies and Spyware Cookies. THere are other great Extension Files for Firefox such as Google Preview and many more. I mainly use Spysweeper as an Anti Spyware cuz It works!

Adaware doesnt!
