What about an option to pass through clicks for your floating contacts? That way people could use them on high transparency and still use what was under them. If this was implemented, the floating contacts would also have to not go to opaque when you put your mouse over them.

Why would you have contacts on your desktop if you cann't click on them?

how about let's say that the contacts are clickable all the time unless you press ctrl while clicking it, where the mouse will click whatever that is under it. i don't know whether this is possible, but just a suggestion

I very much like this because sometimes I find my floating contacts very annoying, but on the other hand, very handy

maybe it could be an option and you could click them with ctrl+click?
