Email sound notification by Dem. on 11-29-2004 at 08:14 PM
I don't know if this has been asked yet, if so; I am very sorry.
I wasn't sure where to ask this; So I'll just ask it here.
Is there any way to use custom sound notifications upon receiving an email? I'v seen this in many movies "You'v got mail".
But recently watched the movie Road Trip, and when he receives a mail you hear mr. T saying: "Mail motherf*cker"
As you might'v guessed. I want something similiar like that to. Now I know you can have special sound notifications upon receiving a message, or a contact person going on or offline. But I can't find any option to add bind a sound to an arriving mail.
I wasn't sure where to ask this because;
1. It might be in there, I'm just looking in the wrong direction.
2. It's not in there, but it makes a (imo) good suggestion for a plug-in.
Sorry if this allready has been asked a million times, I tried to search but couldn't find any thing close to my question.
Thanks a lot

Simply go to Control Panel > Sounds and Audio devices the rest is pretty much self explanatory from there onwards!

Tools > options > general tab..click sounds..go to sounds tab,
now exit MSN messenger or it will set the sound back to default.
Browse in the screen onthere to MSN Messenger...underneath that you'll find "new Mail", select that and browse to the sound you wanna use and doubleclick it (or select and click ok button) now you're back in the sounds screen again..click OK there too.
Restart your MSN and it will use the new sound next time a new e-mail arrives.

Thanks a lot. I found it.
But the odd thing is, nothing plays. Not even the default sound. Did I uncheck something somewhere which causes the sound to vanish?
(I know I got the logging on off contacts off, but this doesn't apply to emails does it?)
Anyway, thanks a lot for the fast answers. Wouldnt thought of that myself. I'll keep digging.
edit: Hmm, tried what sunshine said, but it keeps switching back... I'll keep trying.
edit edit: Have to have contact sounds on
Now just to make it play soundless sounds. Hihi.
Thanks all
