I CANT GET RID OF SPONSERS by lualbell526 on 12-06-2004 at 03:57 PM
Can anyone help me!
I followed Patchous Advice and unistalled the Messenger Plus from my C Drink however - it still comes up on my internet explorer when i want to use the internet and iam inundated with pop ups i really need to get rid of this as it is a work computer - i have had no problems with the program at home but i cannot seem shift it here.
i would like to get rid of this as it has slowed down my compuer a whole lot and i cant really seem to surf the net as well as i could before. No all i get is a warning box when i sign on that says you have failed to install messenger plus correctly - and then the site that i download it comes up.
Can someone please help me get rid of this as it is driving me mad!
i also reinstalled the programme and declined the sponsorship but i am still having the problem.
HELP PLEASE!!!

Umm, Popup blocker?...
If you uninstalled plus, I think the sponsor should already go away. I would get a popup blocker If I were you. How do you know if its msgplus causing it?...

Re-install it with the sponsor to repare any damaged files. Then straight away un-install plus, following patchou's instructions and making sure that internet explorer is closed
Then feel free do re-install without the sponsor

It is not just pop ups that i get - i also have the blue tool bar that comes with Messenger Plus that has the sponsors on i.e casino print cartrideges etc with a asearch bar.
Do you think it is worth my while uninstalling the program again to see if that makes any diffrence?

It seems that your computer is infected by LOP. I have had it twice on my computer (second time after Plus installation), and got it out.
You can know do you have LOP by closing all of iexplore.exe. If they several times come automaticly back, u are infected.
Delete all temporary files -stuff on your computer.
Delete all files that contains any of the following words (unless you are very sure it is not an important file):
defy, cake, dent, lop
Do the same in regedit.

regedit is too dangerous. You might check out this post:

Watch traxor's uninstallation video and if that didn't work, read what Malrog did to remove it.

goofy_guy, lualbell526 and Aku have you done what madman66 has said (since that is the proper method)?
- Stop/disable all your anti-adware/spyware scanning software. Also make sure you have no registry protection/monotoring program running.
(as all these will interfear and corrupt the proper uninstallation of the sponsor)
- Reinstall Plus! with the sponsor
(as this will fix the damage done by anti-adware/spyware programs)
- Uninstall Messenger Plus! from the "add/remove programs" panel in Windows.
(look for "Messenger Plus!")
- Follow the instructions given by the uninstaller (eg: enter the validation number, close every browser window, reboot PC)
(it is very important that you follow the instructions)
- After the PC reboot, you can turn on your anti-adware/spyware again...
- If you wish, you can still use Plus! without the sponsor now if you choose not to install it during the setup of Messenger Plus!.
Make sure you followed these instructions exactly, otherwise it wont work! If all this still didn't work (which should work, but anyways), then try to use the lop uninstaller...
