(/showthread.php?tid=36039) Help me get rid of Norton please... by _Humphreys on 12-26-2004 at 05:35 PM I got a new pc for Christmas. It's on Windows Xp sp2 the thing is it has Norton Suite installed with a free 90 day trial. It's already annoying me (I hate Norton) and I want to remove it. It doesn't appear in the add/remove programs list...so how do you uninstall it? It would be appreciated if you could tell me. RE: Help me get rid of Norton please... by user27089 on 12-26-2004 at 05:37 PM just delete it and get rid of the registry items .... Did it come with an installation CD? If not, try to go to C:\Program Files\Norton or w/e it's installed bcz sometimes it comes with an uninstaller that doesn't show up on the add/remove programs list. quote: It's not as simple as that, Norton is specifically designed so that CAN'T happen. It IS an anti-virus o.o RE: Help me get rid of Norton please... by _Humphreys on 12-26-2004 at 05:39 PM
quote: Is that really safe? Plus knowing me I will probably screw something up. quote: Edit : That's why it's not safe/useful. This is what Norton says in the Readme : If you need to uninstall Norton Internet Security, do not use uninstall products like Norton CleanSweep. Norton Internet Security includes an uninstaller that is specifically designed to correctly uninstall Norton Internet Security. To access the uninstaller, use Start / Settings Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs. If you have installed the Accounts and Parental Control features, you must be using a Supervisor account to uninstall Norton Internet Security. Note: If you are uninstalling the product with the intention of installing an older version, you should uninstall all Symantec programs first. ...there is no uninstaller.
