Unicode converter by panos78 on 01-25-2005 at 11:58 AM
Hallo,
I have a problem with the translation of the website.
Even though I can see it without any problem in my PC, Patchou told me that I will have to convert it, somehow, in unicode as the chinese website is.
Does anyone know how this can happen?

I think you must have Windows 2000/XP to do this.
Using Notepad, open the "Save As..." window and under the "Encoding" menu (at the bottom) select "Unicode" (instead of the default "ANSI").
Edit: Never mind, I forgot the website translation is supposed to be "pseudo-Unicode".

Unfortunately this doesn't work.
When I do it this way, the results on the website is to have something like 20 strings with chinese characters and that's it
Anyone else
I found a way and it is quite fast!
I just pasted the text in the thread and preview it.
The result was to have a new text with all the characters I was interested in to be converted in unicode format!!!
Thanks FORUM!!! You really helped a lot! And this is not a joke!

hi panos78, you're the greek translator, right?
Well, the problem is that Greek uses some characters that are not the same as the english ones, and you have to encode using the HTML syntax: &code; or &#number. It isn't a problem with the format in which the file is saved, which should be ANSI.
Mnjul had the same or a similar problem when translating the web into chinesse. Read the thread Request: A translation program for website translation. There someone suggest a program that seems to work well.

If you want to use Dreamweaver, like me, but have no idea how, you can refer to my reply in another thread:
