The idea is to add further usertitles, traxor, not to change the exising ones, which are already good enough.

You don't need to be here long to have a certain amount of posts (take rebelsean for instance) but perhaps the older members of the forum (and that have been approved by staff) could have custom titles.

Being honest I think the whole post count thing is bullshit & should be abolished. But if I remember rightly we've been down that road before.

You must reckon the first thing you do when you don't know about a member who just posted is to look at his/her postcount. Post counting is important for a board. It can tell you if the user is well known by the other members or if it's a noob trying to annoy, for example.

It is not relevant when it goes to help out people around. And it should not be used to however try to take a race with some others spamming around freely.

I feel that people having 2000+ posts should be given (mostly) or (atleast) seriously considered for being beta testers. I feel after being here for such a long period of time and making so many posts they should be atleast considered for that title cause imo if u reach till there then u can be a tester. But staff should trust the person not leaking it out or something. But someone reaching so far and devoting so much time here regularly wont do that imo.

what good is a beta tester if he doesent report bugs, he could be some person who joined the fourms then forgot, then like 2 years later found a message in his inbos leading to here. he would get selected for BETA'ing my backside.

and the post's doesent count in my honest opinion, sure there there for 'trust' so newbie's can see and stuff. but a spammer getting selected again is not a good choice in my opinion.

the User Titles are funny, add more i say. and you should get a little box or something come up after like 2500+ posts or something huge like that where you can select your own custom User Title.

just another useless opinion that will get rejected though.

Well, I think that tag could be added to the tag-part of the postbit. If you're a translator, you'd have that added to the tags, but still having a usetitle, ie not replacing it.

Also, the tag should be a bit optimized the edges are very hard... (Damn Internet Explorer and the defficient PNG decoding... :dodgy: )

maybe instead of post counts, there should be like a quality post count.

For elites, smods and admins, they have a button which they can rate a member's posts, if it is a good post or a bad post, and that gets added to a repuation style post count replacement. (just a crappy thaught, blah, this would probably be counted as a bad post if my idea was added)

Saral, too complicated.

We would have to agree what counts as post and what doesn't. And we simply can't read everything and be constantly evaluating the content of the posts deciding whether a post is ok or not. There's T&T and posting there doesn't count because you're supposed to end there if you post crap. Other than that... wouldnt be a realistic solution.

I really like the idea, but I don't like the idea of the beta testers though :-/ ... Only people who report bugs should be allowed to be, not that many people do to be honest.

Custom titles is pretty useless, there's already a space for an Avatar Caption, just use that :undecided:

I think there should be more user titles, coz people who get to the top level then have nothing to look forward to when they get way more posts. Plus, one day, everyone is gonna be stuck on one user title.

DZ already said he would add new titles (see in the shoutbox [if its still there, mite have been pruned]) he just said he couldn't think of any good names......... so he needed suggestions for new titles (that was the main reason of the thread, not actually to vote.........but suggest new new etra titles)

I think there might be some new usertitles.. but if you make posts for getting a new usertitle you're not going the right way. This forum is about helping people, not about getting a higher post count.

that user title was made when a bug occured on the forum making them have a negative post count, so i think they got customised to that

I like this very much...about 1500 posts would be good for the new posting freak point, because at this point most members are posting freaks. When the forum was smaller 750 was a high count, but now we're growing in size and in active members we need to rethink some of this...

"Elite Member" wouldn't be allowed wither, since you dont get that title for how many posts you have, Elite members are chosen by Forum Admins/Mods

Extreme member is to far down and Big Poster sounds stupid. Here's my method :

0 -100 = Rookie Member
100 - 750 = Full Member
750 - 1500 = Senior Member
1500 - 2500 = Posting Freak
2500 - Onwards = Forum Legend

yeh sounds good but that would take us both down to senior member and would take another year for us to reach freak status

anyway lots of current freaks would lose their status and thats not fair

what i think is that we should keep the current levels as they are but just add new ones after it instead of changing existing ones because that changes evrything and will upset a lot of people

I think we should leave half of it the way it is. So it will look like this.....

New Member (Minimum Posts: 0)

[Image: four stars.jpg] Plus! Fan (Minimum Posts: 200)
[Image: five stars.jpg] Senior Member (Minimum Posts: 500)
[Image: six stars.jpg] Plus! Fanatic (Minimum Posts: 800)
[Image: Seven stars.jpg] Posting Freak (Minimum Posts: 1200)
And from here the Forum Staff user titles would start...

Like WDZ said, the title Posting Freak will be the highest a non forum staff member can get.
