Can someone record the super-bowl ads? by .blade// on 02-04-2005 at 03:07 AM

Well I live in Canada and they dub over the super-bowl ads :dodgy:. I wanted to know if somebody who lives in the USA could record the super-bowl ads then upload them to a web server or something bcz the super-bowl ads are usually prety cool :)

Yeah I agree. In Finland they won't show any ads, just what happens while you are watching the ads.

Why don't they show the ads outside of the US? The info isn't relevant? :-/

You'll probably be able to find a video (or multiple videos) on the web a few days after it airs. Searching P2P networks should be useful. Sometimes advertisers will even put videos of their ads on their web sites.

I'd record it, but I can't. I only have a VCR, no TV tuner card or anything that records digitally. :p

Canada has Media laws thats allows Canadian advertisers put their ads instead

Canadian Public Policy, 1992, vol. 18, issue 2, pages 166-175
By law, 50 percent of private Canadian television broadcasters' programming must be Canadian.

the american advertisers probably have only paid for the advertising in the US, and so the Canadian broadcasting company isnt getting any money for the advertising.

Apparently the super bowl ads are here: http://dyn.ifilm.com/superbowlads/

I haven't checked though, because I think ifilm is a pile of shit. :)

I just saw it on ifilm. Got the same problem as blade, canadian ads instead of american ads. We did have a cool Blockbuster ad though.

Yeah, Ifilm always has the ads the same day they are shown. As for the wardrobe malfunction and others like one of the Godaddy's ones, they were not on TV but you can see them on ifilm as well.

Exactly, they will just resell the ad space. Same happens with every other event that's broadcasted live internationally... say Grammys, Oscars, whatever.

I didn't even bother to see if they showed the Superbowl locally :dodgy:, I think they used to have it on ESPN.
